Seawolf Park The Galveston Naval Museum (GNM) is home to the USS Cavalla (SS-244), one of the most accomplished World War II submarines open to the public today. The “Lucky Lady,” as she was known to her crew, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This moniker comes from the fact that Cavalla was commissioned on February 29, 1944, leap year day. Today, we wish the Cavalla, also known as the "Avenger of Pearl Harbor" a happy birthday! Thank you to the CAVALLA HISTORICAL FOUNDATION for supporting and promoting the home of the only submarine in the US fleet to have successfully destroyed one of the aircraft carriers that attacked Pearl Harbor. Celebrate the 80th Anniversary at the Galveston Naval Museum and enjoy 50% off admission on March 2!
