Picture Cutline: The Women’s Auxiliary presented $25,000 to The Salvation Army of Galveston County from funds they had raised during their first year of existence. The gift was presented at the annual Boots & BBQ event honoring Fred and Kim Raschke
TEXAS CITY, TEXAS (August 2018). Supporters of The Salvation Army gathered on August 16, 2018 in the Wings of Heritage room at the Nessler Center in Texas City to honor Fred and Kim Raschke and to celebrate the first full year of the newly chartered Women’s Auxiliary. As part of the celebration, the Auxiliary presented a gift from funds they had raised in the amount of $25,000. “The Executive Committee had been working through the logistics of when and how to distribute the money they had raised and decided that this event presented the perfect opportunity,” said Holly McDonald, Director of Development at The Salvation Army.
The Auxiliary also presented the Champion of Hope award to Fred and Kim Raschke for their unwavering commitment to inspire hope in Galveston County through selfless and tireless volunteer service to the community. Fred says “I always remember that there is a fine line between serving in the line or being in the line.  We are a blessed people.  It only makes sense that we share our blessings.” Fred served as Advisory Board Chair for many years and has worked hard to promote the mission and ministry of The Salvation Army.
Vivian Hernandez and Doreen Hughes chaired the event. Sponsors included  Mills Shirley LLP, GalvestonCondoLiving.Com, J.W. Kelso Company, Inc., Texas First Bank, Del Papa Distributing, Fred & Kim Raschke, Gary & Kitty Potter, Moody Bank, The Rider Family Fund (in memory of Gail Rider), Roberts Johnson & Cain, Dick and Mary Alice Black, Ross Enterprises Insurance, Joe Tramonte Realty, Elizabeth and Larry Iles, Carol Greaney-Wurst and Frederick Wurst, Moody Gardens, UTMB Health, Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and Curves of Galveston. Lighthouse Charity Team provided a wonderful BBQ and Mike’s Mobile Music lit up the room with music.
