The Moore Memorial Public Library’s Fall 2019 renovation will officially begin on Saturday, August 3rd at 4 PM. Here is a breakdown of what will happen and how this will affect patrons and library staff.
The library will close for a few months so the renovation can be done in a timely manner. Changes will include new furniture, two small group and two private study rooms, and six family-style restrooms, which will affect the plumbing and facilities offered to the public and staff. Contractors will work to double the building’s electrical capacity, enabling the library to provide more outlets. Before then, library cardholders can renew books until Saturday, July 13th. After July 13th, check out periods will be reduced to 1 – 2 weeks without any renewals. Saturday, July 27th will be the last day to borrow books, audiobooks, and TV DVDs. The last day to borrow regular DVDs will be Wednesday, July 31st. All physical items will be due Saturday, August 3rd at 4 PM. If patrons need to drop off items after the deadline, items can be placed in the book drop. However, the August deadline will not affect our digital collection. The library’s eBooks and eAudiobooks can be accessed by cardholders that download the Libby App for Android, Apple, or Microsoft devices. Information on how to access Libby can be picked up at the library until its closure. During the renovation, staff members will work off-site on various projects. New books will be purchased for processing into the library catalog. Staff members will gain more professional experience through additional training and continuing education classes. And digitization projects for the library’s archival holdings will begin. There are multiple ways patrons can keep in touch during the renovation process.
