The CAC’s Mission:
Is based in the belief that together, we can and should live in harmony while working to continuously improve our quality of life.

Our objectives are twofold, to:
  1. Advise and afford industry and citizens the opportunity to exchange viewpoints, express concerns, and strive to develop an ongoing sense of mutual respect and trust; and,
  2. Address issues of mutual interest such as health, safety, the environment, education and economic development.

We thank our 2018 speakers, often traveling from afar, to present these interesting programs:
  • January: “Marathon’s 2017 Citizenship Report” by Jamal Kheiry, Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) and “Marathon Petroleum Co. South Texas Asset Repositioning (STAR) Project Overview” by Tom Hearn, GBR Major Projects and STAR Project Manager.
  • March: “Water, Water Everywhere! — Can Houston Feasibly Mitigate it’s Floodwater Threats?  The Coastal Spine and Harvey” by Dan Seal, Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP) Executive Director for Special Initiatives.
  • May: “Annual Air Quality Update” by Tracie Phillips, Ph.D. Toxicology Division, TCEQ and Brian Cochran, Section Manager, Ambient Air Monitoring, AECOM.
  • July: “Special Presentation” by Harvey Cappel, Volunteer TCISD STEM/Robotics Instructor, and “Emergency Management Preparedness Updates” by Tom Muñoz, Emergency Manager, City of Texas City.
  • September: “College of the Mainland (COM): We Build Tomorrows,” by Dr. Warren Nichols, COM President.
  • November: “TCEQ Wastewater Permits & Discharge Quality,” by David Galindo, Director, Water Quality Div., Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
We also owe a debt of gratitude to:
  • Our generous meal hosts: INEOS Styrolution America, LLC, Oiltanking Texas City, LP, Dunn Heat Exchangers, BP Texas City Chemicals, Eastman Chemical Texas City, Inc. and Dow Texas City Operations; and,
  • Valero Refining, College of the Mainland (COM), the City of TC and the Nessler Center staff for providing the meeting documents, equipment and meeting rooms; plus, Cathy Gillentine for assiduously summarizing our programs in the local newspaper.
CAC meetings are open to the community with dinner generously provided by our local industries; as such, we request attendance notification.  During 2018 we have had outstanding participation with around 70-80 attendees at each of our meetings.

In 2019 meetings will be held at Nessler’s Captain’s Room from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on: January 30, March 21, May 16, July 18, September 19 and November 21.  Notices will be posted in local newspapers and sent by Email.

This is your Community Advisory Council (CAC).  Help us make 2019 another successful year!

Merry Christmas and a healthy, peaceful & prosperous New Year 2019!
