Lowry Expressway in Texas City.
TEXAS CITY (July 2018) – The Salvation Army of Galveston County announced that construction will begin on the new Moody Family Corps Community Center at 4915 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway in September. The 16,000 square foot facility will provide services for youth, including after-school and character building activities. In addition, The Salvation Army will continue to offer emergency rental/utility assistance to the community.

The Moody Foundation donated $1,500,000 to the project. “The Moody Foundation is proud to support this new facility. The afterschool program and other youth activities will strengthen families and the community” said Allan Matthews, Grants Director.

Chris Doyle, President/CEO of Texas First Bank and chair of The Salvation Army Advisory Board, headed up the effort to raise over $3,500,000 for the center. “This event represents the culmination of years of planning, hard work and persistence on the part of many individuals.  It speaks to the generosity of our community.  We are so excited to start “doing the most good” again on the Mainland of Galveston County.  This Moody Family Corp Community Center will open the next chapter of our service to humanity.”

Construction is expected to take 12 months

To attend the groundbreaking on September 6, please RSVP to Holly McDonald at 409-763-1691, ext. 75313 or [email protected].
