A second round of registration for Galveston County families of low to moderate income seeking Christmas assistance for their children 12 and younger will begin Monday, October 21 and run through October 24 at the Showboat located at 416 6th St. N in Texas City from 9am-11:30am and from 1pm-3pm each day. Any resident of Galveston County can register during this time. “The Angel Tree is one of The Salvation Army’s best supported programs and makes it possible for over 1000 children in Galveston County to open gifts on Christmas morning,” said Captain Lucila Doria, Commanding Officer for The Salvation Army in Galveston County. “We are grateful for this very special ministry and for the generous donors who will work alongside The Salvation Army this Christmas.” Families seeking assistance should bring a photo ID, rent/mortgage receipt, a copy of their lease agreement, proof of income, food stamp letter that includes children’s birthdates or birth certificates or custody papers if applicable. Families will be asked to prepare a Christmas list with clothing sizes and toy suggestions ranging up to $40.00. Call (409) 763-1691 with questions. Volunteer opportunities are available.
