GALVESTON (March 2018) – The Women’s Auxiliary of The Salvation Army Galveston County had a big day at the Runway of Hope Style Show and Luncheon on March 2 in the Grand Ballroom of the San Luis Hotel. Nearly $50,000 was raised to further the mission and ministry of the local Salvation Army. Sponsors included the John P. McGovern Foundation, the Dr. Leon Bromberg Charitable Trust, Kroger, Cynthia Wander- Realtor, Galveston Chamber of Commerce, Moody National Bank, Texas First Bank, Hometown Bank, UTMB Health, the Daily News and the San Luis Resort. Celebrity models included wife of Congressman Randy Weber, Brenda Weber, wife of District Clerk John Kinard, Chris Kinard, Doreen Hughes, Gina Spagnola, Vivian Hernandez and Becky Trout. Carol Greaney-Wurst was presented with the Champion of Hope award in honor of her service to the community as a teacher, school board member and business woman.

Michelle & Emma Robach, owners of Blu Boutique at 2118 Post Office Street in Galveston created a fun show featuring outfits for the different occasions women attend throughout the year. Attendees were able to shop for bargains in the Closet of Hope, a chic boutique set up in the lobby of the Grand Ballroom. Bargains from the Closet of Hope are still on display and available for purchase at The Salvation Army Family Store located at 601 51st. Street in Galveston. Kroger provided beautiful flower arrangements for all the tables and the stage which were sold to eager shoppers at the end of the show.

Funds raised by the Women’s Auxiliary support the programs of the local Salvation Army. Membership is just $25.00 annually. Call 409-763-1691, ext. 75313 for more details.

Chris Kinard, Brenda Weber and Doreen Hughes displayed a variety of fashions from Blu Boutique.
