Kids have a great time at Galveston Art League summer workshops. Three will be offered this June. Registration is open now, and each set of classes has a maximum enrollment of eight students. Details: www.GalvestonArtLeague.com.
During June, award-winning artists will lead three Galveston Art League workshops for
8- to 12-year-olds. All of these four-day workshops will teach participants art skills that
they can enjoy throughout their lives.
Cost of each four-day workshop is $75 and includes materials. Enrollment in each
workshop is limited to eight or fewer students. All are held in the Galveston Art League
Gallery, 2117A Postoffice St. in downtown Galveston.
Registration is available online at www.GalvestonArtLeague.com (click on “Events” and
then “Workshops” in the drop-down menu). Or email [email protected] to enroll.
Here’s an overview of the three workshops:
 Paint Like Picasso – 10 a.m. to noon June 13-16. Teachers Sally and Troy Knight
will instruct students in the use of varied media to create imaginative and magical
art.
 Fun in the Studio – 10 a.m. to noon June 20-23. Missy Livengood will lead
creative activities that use the basic concepts of sculpture, painting and drawing to
engage the young artist.
 Collage and origami – 10 a.m. to noon June 27-30. Instructors Paula Freeman
and Debra Davis will guide the young participants as they paste and fold to create
divine special effects.
Galveston Art League is a 108-year-old nonprofit organization that was founded with the
mission of promoting art education and visual arts in the Galveston County region and
beyond. The Art League accomplishes this through its workshops (which include many
geared to adults); member shows and juried competitions, both of which provide artists
with excellent exposure (the gallery hangs a new exhibit each month); and travel
opportunities.
Art League membership, with fees that are tax-deductible, is enticing to anyone who
appreciates art. Artists and non-artists who join the league enjoy members-only social
gatherings and educational opportunities. To learn more about Galveston Art League,

please visit www.GalvestonArtLeague.com; to find out about membership levels and
fees, click on “Get Involved” near the top of the homepage.
