Monday was on a conference call with a large developer. Looking at options that would best fit the City and citizens needs. Tuesday more zoom meetings as well as getting ready for school to start. Had our annual Cheers and Beers with some special friends. Won’t go into details, but definitely needed for the new school year. Wednesday attended the Chamber luncheon. Daniel Blanco was our guest speaker educating us about PID’s. Great food as always and thank you Gina Bouvier and the Santa Fe Chamber for hosting as well as Hidden Palms for the venue. Shortly after that I had a zoom meeting with the Santa Fe Education Foundation board. Then attended, with Glen and Bridget Adams, the Veterans Court graduation at the County Court House. Was amazing to see our Veterans get a second chance. Hearing the stories were heartbreaking, seeing the recovery was amazing. I’m so glad our County Judge Mark Henry along with District Attorney Jack Roady and their team takes the time and effort to rehab and forgive offenses for our veterans as well as giving them the tools and resources to help overcome their PTSD and addictions. So glad we have a veteran friendly County as well as a veteran friendly City. On my way back into town I stopped by Honey Bee Boutique to wish them well for their one year anniversary as well as a ribbon cutting from the Chamber of Commerce. Whew that was a busy full day. Thursday as most know was the first day of school. The community had some ups and downs, but all in all the day went pretty good. Later that evening we had a Council meeting. Highlights from that meeting..... Council authorized staff to go out for bids for a master Comprehensive plan. Definitely a great start in the right direction. I believe a prepared community is an efficient community. We have been lacking a plan for many years. Second item is the COM promise program. Thank you Councilman Fidencio Leija for putting this on the budget and spear heading this funding. I am proud to announce that City Council approved $30,000($10k for 3 years) for our Santa Fe kids to be able to attend COM after graduation for FREE to obtain a trade certificate, 2 year associate degree, nursing, etc. We want our amazing kids to have a chance to succeed so they can be better educated as well as want to stay and thrive in our beautiful City. Y’all be safe this weekend. Take some time to decompress. Mental health is no joke. Even I get really busy and sometimes put myself and my family on the back burner because my focus gets consumed. It is definitely a balancing act. I’m not perfect at it, but I try to pay more attention. Be aware, know when to take a break, also remember what is really important in your life. Love you guys and have a great Friday and amazing weekend.
