Today ushers in a new era at League City Police Department. Chief Michael Kramm has accepted the position of Assistant City Manager with our City effective today.
After graduating from Clear Creek High School, Mike served in the United States Navy from 1988 until 1992 and then began his career with League City Police Department in 1993. Chief Kramm spent time as a Patrol Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Field Training Officer, Field Training Coordinator and Administrator, Instructor, Special Operations Division Commander, and SWAT Tactical Team Member but that is just scratching the surface. He became League City Police Department Police Chief in late 2012.
During his 5 years as Chief, Mike was instrumental in transitioning our department from a small town police department into a first class law enforcement agency. As a proponent of well trained and educated officers, Mike was instrumental in the development of a full time, fully staffed training division and started us on the road to becoming recognized by the Texas Police Chiefs Association as being compliant with 164 Texas Law Enforcement Best Practice Practices Recognition Program.
The promotion of Assistant Chief Gary Ratliff to the rank of Chief will assure that the continued growth and progression of our flourishing department doesn't skip a beat. Gary's experience, creativity and interpersonal skills will be key in assuring that League City Police Department continues to be the gold standard for Texas law enforcement agencies. A native of Dickinson, Chief Ratliff began his career with League City Police Department in 1985. He has held the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and he was promoted to assistant chief in 2006. He has served as a supervisor in every division of the Department and served as a consultant and advisor during the construction of the new public safety building and the move into the new facility. Chief Ratliff has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from LeTourneau University, a Masters in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management from Sam Houston State University. He is a graduate from the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas and the FBI National Academy.
Congratulations to Mike and Gary!
