GALVESTON (May 2018) – The 9th Annual Michael D. Riley Memorial Golf Tournament presented by Gilbane Building Company and benefiting The Salvation Army of Galveston County is scheduled for May 18, 2018 at Moody Gardens Golf Course. The annual tournament honors the memory of beloved community member Michael D. Riley who served as President of Moody Gardens and Vice-President of Gal-Tex Hotel Corporation before his unexpected passing in 2009. Victor Pierson, President and CEO of Moody National Bank and Honorary Chair of the tournament offered a testimonial of Riley: “Arnold Palmer said success in golf depends less on strength of body than strength of mind and character. It’s appropriate to remember Mike Riley with a round of golf, because he was a man whose strength of mind and character set the standard for all of us–as a Salvation Army volunteer, a business leader and friend. Though he achieved great success and had immense responsibilities in the business world, Mike always made time for the two things most important in his life: his faith and his family.” Sponsors of the tournament include Moody Bank, Moody Foundation, Moody Gardens, Clear Channel Outdoors, Texas First Bank, Greer, Herz & Adams, Marek Brothers, Hill & Finkel, Kenmor Electric, KPRC 2, ABC-TV 13, The San Luis Resort and Centerpoint Energy. Sponsorships and team reservations can be made online at salvationarmygalvestoncounty.org/golf or by calling Holly McDonald at 409-763-1691, ext. 75313.
