Meet Phil Roberts
Phil Roberts currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem and Commissioner At Large for the City of Texas City and is running to be the next Mayor of Texas City. Phil expresses that while focusing on Public Safety, he wants to continue as Mayor to address drainage and storm protection issues. Planning for growth in Texas City will also continue to be his priority. His campaign slogan has not changed because Phil wants to continue to help “Untap the potential for Texas City”. Phil received his Law Degree from the University of Houston Law Center and a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from The University of Texas at Austin. During his tenure on the Texas City Independent School District School Board of Trustees, he worked hard to improve our schools in our community. He currently serves on the Planning Board for the City of Texas City, the Transportation Policy Council for the Houston-Galveston Area Council, and as a member of the Galveston County Mayors’ and Councilmembers’ Association. Phil has lived in the community and practiced law on Downtown 6th Street - Texas City for almost 40 years and is currently a partner in the law firm of Roberts, Johnson, and Cain, formerly known as Mabry, Herbeck and Roberts. He and his wife, Paula, raised their children in this area. Taylor, Will, and Austin are all TCISD graduates and Eagle Scouts. Taylor and his wife, Megan, are in the Washington D.C Captital City area where he is a Cyber Security Policy Analyst for the Office of Management and Budget for the White House. Austin is a Field Engineer for the construction firm of Cadence McShane Construction in San Antonio. Will is attending Law School at Texas Tech University In Lubbock, TX Phil deeply believes in service to the community. He has volunteered through many groups including the United Way Galveston County Mainland (Director and Chair of the Board), Texas City - La Marque Chamber of Commerce (Chair of the Advocacy Committee and past Chair of the Board), and Rotary Club of Texas City (President of the Texas City Rotary Foundation and past President of the club). He also is active with The Salvation Army Galveston County, Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council, St John's UMC Texas City as well as others.
