Legal Experience Judge Robinson is a former Felony Chief Prosecutor in the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office. While in the DA’s office, he handled thousands of cases ranging from DWI to Murder and tried nearly 100 cases in front of a jury. The experience and legal knowledge Judge Robinson obtained during his tenure in the prosecutor’s office was invaluable. After his tenure within the DA’s Office, Judge Robinson eventually started his own law firm, Jones Robinson LLP, with law partner Jeth Jones. The Jones Robinson law firm successfully represented hundreds clients accused of crime in the greater Houston/Galveston/Brazoria region. In 2013, Judge Robinson assisted in the creation of the Galveston County Veterans Treatment Court program and served as the first defense counsel representing justice involved veterans in a diversion program designed to get them treatment instead of jail time. Military Service Judge Robinson is a Combat Veteran and Major with the United States Army. He served meritoriously with both the First Calvary Division and the Third Infantry Division in Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Judge Robinson still currently serves as the Command Judge Advocate for the 256th Infantry Brigade. Prior to his current position, he served as the Command Judge Advocate for the 204th Theater Air Operations Group and the Senior Defense Counsel for the Louisiana National Guard where he represented hundreds of clients soldiers and airmen accused of all types of violations of the Louisiana Code of Military Justice (LCMJ) and the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). In 2009, Judge Robinson was deployed to Haiti in support of Operation Helping Hands, an effort to provide earthquake relief for the citizens of that nation. He has also been activated to provide legal expertise to commanders in numerous hurricane relief missions, including Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Issac. He is a recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal and Bronze Star Nominee. Governor Abbott Appointment In November 2018, 405th District Judge Michelle Slaughter was elected to the Texas Criminal Court of Appeals vacating the bench at the beginning of 2019. Among dozens of qualified and experienced candidates, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Judge Robinson to the bench where he was unanimously confirmed by the Texas Senate and sworn into office on March 18, 2019. Since taking the bench, Judge Robinson has been administering justice in Galveston County and upholding the Texas and United States Constitutions.
