Mayor Pro Tem Keith Bell will be sworn in as Mayor at an upcoming City Council meeting. La Marque, Texas (December 29, 2020) La Marque Mayor Bobby Hocking is retiring effective January 1, 2021, after a decade of service to his hometown. "It is with a sense of accomplishment, yet a humble heart, that I hereby submit my resignation as Mayor of the City of La Marque, Texas, to become effective on January 1, 2021. I have come to realize that my wife's health and welfare and the fact that we must be closer to our adult children as it concerns her care and recovery are of the utmost priority. I will always treasure my decade of service to my hometown and pray nothing but the absolute best for the future. Thank you to all who have supported me in this endeavor, and blessings be upon you and yours moving forward. All my best, Mayor Bobby Hocking." Per Section 2.07. of the City of La Marque Charter, Mayor Pro Tem Keith Bell shall become Mayor until the next general election expected in May of 2021. La Marque City Manager Tink Jackson believes the transition will go smoothly as Mayor Pro Tem Bell has been acting as Mayor over the past several weeks and has been serving on La Marque City Council for more than a decade himself. "Mayor Bobby Hocking has served the people of La Marque with dignity and honor," said Jackson. "We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his leadership during a time of exponential growth.
