There’s still time to enroll children aged 8 to 13 years old in the Summer Kids’ Art Workshops offered June 17-21 by the Galveston Art League, 2117A Postoffice St. in Galveston.

The workshops cost $10 per session, or a reduced rate of $40 for kids who want to attend all five days. Scholarships are available for students who are eligible for schools’ free-lunch programs.

The workshops for children 8 to 10 years old will be held from 10 a.m. to noon each day; 11- to 13-year-olds will attend the sessions held from 1 to 3 p.m. every day.

Activities include painting your own portrait; making collagraph prints (prints combined with collage) of your favorite place, real or imaginary; musical abstracts, which is creating an abstract acrylic painting from the inspiration of music that students listen to; treasure boxes that are created from cigar boxes; design your own building, an activity that involves using boxes in construction.

Please contact [email protected] for details or to check enrollment, which is limited to 12 students per session. You can see the daily schedule and register online at www.GalvestonArtLeague.com – click on “Workshops” near the top of the homepage.

The Galveston Art League is a 105-year-old all-volunteer nonprofit organization that promotes visual arts and arts education in the region. It offers low-cost workshops and other activities throughout the year to adults and children. Check www.GalvestonArtLeague.com for the organization’s latest announcements.
