There’s still time to enroll children aged 8 to 13 years old in the Summer Kids’ Art Workshops offered June 17-21 by the Galveston Art League, 2117A Postoffice St. in Galveston.
The workshops cost $10 per session, or a reduced rate of $40 for kids who want to attend all five days. Scholarships are available for students who are eligible for schools’ free-lunch programs. The workshops for children 8 to 10 years old will be held from 10 a.m. to noon each day; 11- to 13-year-olds will attend the sessions held from 1 to 3 p.m. every day. Activities include painting your own portrait; making collagraph prints (prints combined with collage) of your favorite place, real or imaginary; musical abstracts, which is creating an abstract acrylic painting from the inspiration of music that students listen to; treasure boxes that are created from cigar boxes; design your own building, an activity that involves using boxes in construction.
