Detective Grant retired on August 31, 2021, after dedicating and diligently serving the citizens of this community for the past 31 years. #LeagueCitysFinest On August 1, 1990, Morton “Marty” Grant began his career with the League City Police Department. As a rookie Patrol Officer, Officer Grant earned a reputation for being driven, and he executed his patrol responsibilities with passion and a commitment to serving others. By May of 1993, Officer Grant's exceptional performance led to him being offered a position in the Criminal Investigations Division. Detective Grant’s drive and dedication has defined his 28-year tenure as a Detective which is the longest any officer has ever served in this position at the League City Police Department. He has been the lead Detective in well over 4,000 investigations to include several high-profile murder and sexual assault cases. Detective Grant's desire to protect and defend crime victims prompted him to accept the additional responsibility of monitoring sex offenders in League City. He was instrumental in writing the City’s Ordinance years ago restricting where convicted sex offenders can live in the City. With this task, he has worked to ensure that sex offenders properly register with the Department and adhere to all State and local laws. Detective Grant also was an instructor for the League City Police Department teaching Child Abuse classes to police officers, and he taught our Citizens Police Academy classes for Child Abuse and Criminal Investigations for over 15 years.
