The nonprofit Galveston Art League participates in Art in the Gardens as part of its mission to encourage art appreciation and support art education in the greater Galveston County region. The Art League, established in 1914, is an all-volunteer group that has never had a paid staff member. It is supported by tax-deductible sponsorships and memberships (visit www.GalvestonArtLeague.com and click on “Join”), by tax-deductible contributions (contact [email protected]), and by an annual gala that is open to the public. This year’s fundraiser gala, 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the San Luis Hotel Grand Ballroom, will feature auctions of artwork and products/services donated by area merchants; gourmet dining and an open bar; a raffle of a wheelbarrow loaded with wine, liquor, and snacks; and live music. You can find out more about this event and purchase your tickets at www.GalvestonArtLeague.com.
