Galveston Art League holds sale of small artworks during holidays

12/5/2021

If you’re shopping for that person who already has pretty much everything – or maybe you’ve just got a
blank space that’s crying out for art – Galveston Art League has got you covered.
From Dec. 3-26, the
league’s gallery, 2117A Post office in Galveston, is hosting a small-art holiday gift sale. The gallery is open noon to 6 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.
None of the special holiday pieces measures more than 12 inches at its longest dimension, and nothing costs more than $75.
It’s an opportunity to own a piece of original art at a pint-size price.
As items sell, artists are allowed to replenish the small-wall offerings, so shoppers should check back for changes in inventory.
The small-art sale is part of the Galveston Art League’s monthly membership show. In addition, dozens of larger newly displayed works are also for sale throughout the roomy gallery.
The Art League holds nine monthly member shows per year, with all member-show works for sale inside
the gallery and on the organization’s website, www.GalvestonArtLeague.com.
During the other three months of each year, the league hosts exhibits of art accepted into its annual juried competitions.
The 107-year-old Art League exhibits local artists’ diverse pieces – from jewelry, sculpture and mixed
media works to photography and paintings – as a way of fulfilling its mission to promote visual arts and
art education in the Galveston County region and beyond. Run exclusively by volunteers, the nonprofit
league has never had a salaried employee.
The Art League supports itself via gallery sales, tax-deductible membership fees (artists and non-artists
are welcomed), contributions, workshop tuition, and an annual fundraiser gala, with the next one
coming up in May 2022.
If you’d like to assist the Galveston Art League, learn about the privileges of
membership, or find out more about the organization and its activities,
please visit
