From the desk of Santa Fe's Mayor Jason Tabor

Update of what has been going on.

Last week I attended the Dickinson Bayou Watershed Committee Meeting. It is made up of 12 different entities all working together to find comprehensive drainage solutions. We work together to find regional solutions and not just local ones. Great things coming for 2020.
I also attended a private meeting and our guest speaker was with the state mental health. We learned about the process of mental health and the court system. Some things I knew, some I had no idea. All in all, was very informative.
I also had the opportunity to read to the 4th-grade class at OLOL school. I was honored to be invited back again for the second time. The kids were great and the staff was wonderful as well. My book was about a triangle who wasn’t happy with 3 sides. So he kept adding more sides until he looked nothing like a triangle. In the end, he just wanted to be a regular triangle. The moral of the story is to just be yourself and enjoy the friends you have. Trying to be something you aren’t what is best.
We had a city council meeting last week. Was Joe’s last one. Too much to recap but in a nutshell......10 year anniversary of the Education Foundation, the council voted to possibly call an election for the EDC, new City Manager Contract was approved.
Friday I did some filming for our HGTV entry for the town make-over. So if you saw me on Jackson standing by the road, I was just filming..... not broke down Billy haha.
I went by Runge Park to see the Santa Fe officers association fundraiser. They are trying to convince me to have a fundraiser for them where the winner gets to tase the Mayor...... I’m not sure how to respond to that. Some of the officers were explaining the pain and giving me pointers. I’m asking real questions like will I mess myself of will it make me cry....etc. So I think the best advice was to maybe wear a bulletproof vest and get shot, or maybe wear the bite suit and let the dog attack me for a few minutes. So, all in all, it’s a work in progress 😂.
Y’all have a great week. Oh and to clear up any rumors..... I am not up for election until 2021....... I will be running for re-election..... at this time I don’t have an opponent. I will be having a campaign fundraiser and my 40th birthday in March. Cookoff will start on Friday, March 6th and the event will be March 7th. This is a way to raise a little money, but the most important part is to be able to have something for my community. I want to be able to bring together my community family and celebrate together on my event and not piggyback off of someone else’s. Y’all have a great week and I will see y’all around town. Don’t forget to do an act of kindness. Love y’all and God bless Santa Fe.
