Quick update. It’s been a couple weeks so I will do some highlights. Attended the Chelsey 5k at the beginning of the month. My wife and I love to sponsor that event and attend year after year. That weekend we had the Education Foundation annual fun run and golf ball drop. At the last minute I ran the 5k. Came in the first group, was pretty good since I haven’t run that far in a decade lol. I completed it in 31 minutes so I have room for improvement. On a side note I walked funny for about two days lol. The next day May 5th my family attended the Bay Area Chorus in Dickinson. Was a great event, beautiful singing. They offered to come down for Christmas and sing at this years tree lighting, I would be foolish not to take them up on that offer. Last Monday I was honored to attend the 50’s Club luncheon to watch our PD receive some much deserving awards. Great job to those officers, y’all definitely go above and beyond. I have been going to meetings non stop, that’s an understatement. Have done four interviews for the press in the past week, and the documentary crew is back in town. The rules about press, you don’t have to talk to them. You can request all the questions up front and you don’t have to answer any questions at all. My volleyball team had our last game this weekend and now we are starting playoffs. This might be my last season to coach my daughters. It’s a bitter sweet, but they are both amazing players and deserve to play at a higher level. Guess I can wait to coach grand kids, many many years from now 😂.
So I ask this week that everyone be a little more patient and forgiving. Let’s light up social media with love and caring and show the world why we are Santa Fe. This has been probably the hardest year of my life. As my wife says, I give so much to my community that sometimes I have nothing left when I get home. I am so grateful to have such an understanding wife and kids that allow me to be the Mayor of the greatest city in the greatest state. Please continue to pray for this community as we face a tough week and a tough day of remembrance this Saturday. I pray that God guides me and gives me the courage and wisdom needed to lead my community during these hard days. I pray that those hurting find some sort of peace and hurt just a little less as they take this week day by day and minute by minute. Remember you are not alone, we are all in this together. Please call or visit the Carol Gaylord (SantaFe Strong Resiliency Center ) if you need anything at all. God bless everyone and I will see y’all around town.
