The Book of James
This fall, our church is doing a deep dive into the book of
James. I have really enjoyed studying the book of James
in my preparation for sermons. Our small groups are also
studying the book of James. We are using the video series
on Right Now Media featuring the teaching of Frances
Chan. The book of James is timely for us. It was written to
early Christians who were being persecuted for their faith
and going through a famine. Our world is going through
difficult times. Many Christians are being persecuted
throughout the world. Even in America, Christians are
being belittled because of our faith. The pandemic and
natural disasters are wreaking havoc on our physical,
emotional, and spiritual beings. Let's learn from James
how to handle these unprecedented times!
It is not too late to start a small group. If you have
access to the internet, then you can download Right Now
Media. The Book of James Bible study is on there. We have
printed out a study guide that can be used for your group
discussion. Most of our small groups are already going, but
you can start a group of your own. Several of our members
are starting new groups. We have adopted the small group
model from Saddleback Church that encourages people to
start their own groups and find people they trust to meet
with each other. This tends to create better and more
honest discussion. I hope you will consider being part of
a group.
