As we in Galveston County gear up for what may be the most interesting and combative election cycle in history, I am happy to have the Mid-County Republican Networking Group as an active and positive influence in our County.
We will publish our meeting announcements and other information to a broader email list than in the past. If a Group member doesn’t received notices, please let us know, so that we may fix the problem. We are also activating our Facebook page to provide a source for additional political information. As a part of our community information we are adding a section called “FOOD FOR THOUGHT,” to look at and discuss the basis of our form of government. It is hoped that the published statements may evoke some responses and discussion.
As a first thought for our Food for Thought column, I look to and thank, all those in our Group and community who have raised their right hands and pledged, “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So, help me God.”
Please I note that there is no period of performance or escape clause in this obligation. When we committed, we committed for life. Most of us probably took this solemn oath as young lads and lasses joining the military, but I find as I get older, that this oath is becoming more dear to me. I do not understand how the people of the other party can ignore the document upon which our countries greatness was built, and favor of some nebulous socialist dogma.
Keep Texas Red,
