Cheryl’s campaigning for re-election in Galveston County. She’s asked for our support. Listen to this clip of her testimony (1:38:00-46:00) before the State Affairs Committee almost a year ago. http://tlchouse.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=44&clip_id=16344 Remember who’s speaking. This is a “County Tax Collector.” And she wants to Eliminate Taxpayer-Funded Lobbyists. It’s no wonder the Texas Association of Counties stopped sending her their propaganda. I listened to her invited testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Property Tax Reform in 2016, as well. It’s too much to share here, but she was every bit as much our advocate. Last month, I asked Cheryl if she would share her experience with our fellow member Jeff Hutt. He’s running for Aransas County Assessor-Collector. After speaking with Cheryl and visiting her office, Jeff said, “Cheryl Johnson has basically created the template I want to follow.” She told him, "When we come across something wrong or unfair, we go out and get the law changed." Later, Cheryl replied to me, “I am already gathering data to show that additional changes are needed after SB 2 to reform the appraisal process. Although many would like to move to sales tax, we will need a transition system and ‘price paid’ would be a good transition (particularly with the elimination of county appraisal districts).” https://vote4cheryl.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Vote4Cheryl2020/ No Relief. No Reform. #EliminatePropertyTax
