It started with 3 lazy guys who wanted to have a party and not do any of the cooking.

What is the Bigass Crawfish Bash ?
BigAss Crawfish Bash Foundation is a Texas non-profit corporation that works in partnership with local charities that benefit lives of veterans, children and the disabled.
What do we do? We put on a one-day event which is an all you can eat crawfish cook-off with over 80 private teams and area restaurants all competing. Patrons can move about the event sampling everyone’s crawfish and return to booths they love as much as they want.

1. Setting the Guinness record, how exciting was that?
Breaking the Guinness World Record was Amazing. It was a lot of extra work for our committee and teams, but it was so worth it to be able to claim that honor! It makes it even sweeter that TEXAS holds the Record and not Louisiana. It is true what they say, everything is Bigger and Better in Texas. 58 K lbs. in 8 hours. We still hold the title today and will hold it until someone breaks it!

2. How many pounds of crawfish are we anticipating on preparing this year?
We will prepare 70,000 POUNDS! All you can eat crawfish is guaranteed from 1- 6 but lots of teams will still have crawfish before and after those times.

3. Where do the proceeds go?
The proceeds go to Camp Hope for Veterans who suffer from PTSD, Special Olympics, Local Education Foundations, Boy Scouts,Today's Harbor for Children,Rotary Club,CERT,Lions Club and more. In four years we have given out over $300,000 to charities! Not too shabby for just a few lazy guys wanting throw a party and not do any of the cooking.

4.Why do this event?
This event is near and dear to all our hearts. First, without the men and women who have fought for our freedom, we would not even be able to put on such an event. We are from Santa Fe and when the tragedy struck us, we were able through our relationship with Camp Hope to provide the kids involved a Night of Recovery with the veterans with PTSD,face to face ,in round table discussions. It allowed kids that had not opened up to do so. The board of directors, Quentin Severin, Mark Crowder, Travis LeDoux, as well as, committee members have
always given back to the community in forms of food drives, school supply drives and volunteered for special Olympics or school events, so it all just made sense.
The winner of last year's bash went on to participate and WIN the World Seafood Food
Championship with a 10K purse. They are now advancing to the World
Food Championship with a 100K purse!Way to go Pinchin' Tails,Beau Smith and his team!

5. How many people are involved in pulling off such a large event and what all does it en-tale?
We have a small committee of 13 members, but we could not do it without our volunteers and sponsors! We will have about 120 volunteers or Crawlunteers ,as we say. They are instrumental in our success, as well as, our teams. We have the best teams imaginable and they love their craft! Cooking crawfish... Crawficionadoes!
It takes blood,sweat and tears, but it is worth it. It is a misconception that because we are a non-profit that we get everything for free. We have lots to pay for from the 70K lbs of crawfish to the security to the bands to kidzone,etc

6. What else, outside of crawfish, can people expect at the event?
The event will have live entertainment from Zydecoby Curtis Poullard,Shapeshifters, Jamey St. Pierre & the Honey Creepers and Headlining BAG OF DONUTS! A must see line up...... Patrons are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and make a whole day out of it!
We will have an awesome kid zone that will offer all day play wristbands for the kiddos.
Kids 10 and under are FREE to enter the event!
We have a merchandise vendor area for those inclined to shop!
If Crawfish isn't your thing, don't worry! We have a wide variety of food trucks or booths.
We will even have a continuous shuttle that will run from Mall of The Mainland, so you don't have to worry about traffic!

7. Will this continue to be an annual event?
Yes! Events in other cities?
We have been asked to expand and would love to... stay tuned!

8. If you've never been to a crawfish festival/bash, what should you expect and why should you
come outside of a love for crawfish?
This is a Bash!
Great time,Great Music and Great people; young and old from all walks of life coming
together for Great causes with their phones in their back pockets,eating crawfish, laughing
and loving LIFE! Together we are Truly Amazing!
Patrons will get to eat crawfish from all the teams and restaurants competing in the event for one low ticket
price! You may visit a booth as many times as you like. The public gets to VOTE on who they like the BEST!
We will have a public tent to sit and eat while listening to the bands. We will also have a special Veteran VIP
Tent just for veterans and their families! Just bring proof of service, even a photo in uniform on your phone will work.
