Christmas Movie Reviews
· REVIEW: The Secret Gift of Christmas- Hallmark Channel Bonnie (Meghan Ory), is a personal shopper who helps Patrick (Christopher Russel) her widowed client, reconnect with his young daughter. Though their ideas of shopping couldn't be more different, she's determined to get them everything on their wish list. For the first 20 minutes we thought Bonnie came off loud, annoying, and unnecessarily over the top. Meeting Patrick, we thought ‘what an odd couple’. And we just could not see these two ever realistically being interested in each other. Then, slowly, as the movie progressed, she seemed to settle down and became more of a realistic person and a realistic possibility for Patrick. The turning point seemed to be when ahe bonded with Patrick’s daughter. There are some sweet scenes as the two get to know each other, and some we would rather they had left out (see Karaoke scene - Yikes!) The ride is bumpier than most and for good reasons which adds a layer of depth often missing. This movie wasn’t great, but also wasn’t horrible. It was just… meh. We normally like Christopher Russell but felt he wasn’t given a ton of stuff to work with in this one. 5 Christmas Tress out of 10. Just like we said. Meh.
