· From Our Minister of Families, Dennis Johns Camp Fundraiser Summer is an awesome time here at FBCTC, and it is fast approaching. Many exciting events span the summer season: Vacation Bible School, Sports Camp, Music Camp, Pre-teen Camp, Camp Sonshine and Youth Camp. Away Camps (Youth Camp/Pre-teen Camp) are a great time for children and youth to pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus and the Kingdom community He has given us to grow with. It is an event designed with limited distractions so that students can have enhanced opportunity to connect spiritually. This retreat setting provides an atmosphere for other adults to speak blessing into their lives and gives an opportunity to focus on intentional attributes of their walk of faith through worship, discussion groups, Bible study, and purposeful recreation. Our VBS and local children’s camps (Music, Sports, SonShine) give students and adults the opportunity to use gifts that God has given for service, fellowship, and discipleship in leading the planned activities. Attendees receive special attention and compassion from each of the volunteers as they provide an unforgettable time of community in learning about and experiencing “God all around us.” These life changing events occur because God’s people step up. God’s people step up and pray, serve, love, and give. One of the reasons that I love the summer so much is that we get to experience concentrated times of community praying, serving, loving, and giving four or five days in a row. I hope that you will plan on participating in some way this summer, through prayer, volunteering, or giving or all of the above. We have the philosophy that if there is room available, we do not want lack of family funds to keep any student/child from attending camp. Thank you to the generosity of FBCTC for meeting this need. This Sunday 1/28 we will have a Youth/Children’s camp Fundraiser meal. Come join us in the Fellowship Hall immediately after worship for a hamburger or hot dog and enjoy community. A Dessert silent auction will be taking place as well so you don’t want to miss it. See you there. Oh, and Summer…“It will be here before you know it.” Tim Franklin · Our 21 days of prayer and fasting Today’s Scripture “He replied, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.’” —Luke 10:18-20 (NIV) “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.” —Ephesians 1:18-23 (NIV) Reflect on the Word As overcomers in faith and as children of God, we are to rejoice and fear not! We walk, pray and live as co-heirs (with Christ) who have been given all power and authority over the enemy with the knowledge that our eternity is secure. In the authoritative name of Jesus, our fervent prayers of agreement are powerful and effective, with assurance that what we bind and loose on Earth will be bound and loosed in heaven. Prayer + Contemplation Allow the joy of your salvation and the understanding of Christ’s headship over all things to be the strength of your warfare. Intercede on behalf of someone you know who is far from God, that they might recognize the spiritual battle and come to understand the power and authority of Christ. Ask for revelation of what’s behind any opposition you’re presently facing, take authority over the enemy, and release the promises of God over that situation. Family moment: Promise prayers Read Ephesians 1:18-23. Share the words that stand out to you. God invites us to pray big prayers with the power and authority that comes from following Jesus. What does it mean to pray with authority? Declaring the promises of God is a great place to start. Go on a promise hunt through the Bible, e.g., He loves you (Rom. 5:8), He hears you (Ps. 34:17), You are His child (John 1:12), and He will never leave you (Deut. 31:8). Invite everyone to find a promise of God. It's a one-day gathering of local Christians coming together to connect, inspire, and grow.1/19/2024 ·

· ”Then Joseph said to the people, "Behold, I have this day bought you and your land for Pharaoh. Now here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land. And at the harvests, you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and four-fifths shall be your own, as seed for the field and as food for yourselves and your households, and as food for your little ones." And they said, "You have saved our lives; may it please my Lord, we will be servants to Pharaoh."“ Genesis 47:23-25 ESV I encourage you to go back and read this entire account of what led to this point. Joseph had a vision of what was to happen, Pharaoh gave him the power to handle things and care for the government ending up with the food, the land, and the people. Then the government became the one the people looked to for everything they had, and they were happy to be under the care of the government that cared so much for them. I may get myself in trouble here, but isn’t this what is happening to so many people today? The government which has created many of our challenges is now seen as the source of blessings for people, and people rejoice that the government takes care of them. I fear what happens too often is that the government has become lord and the people are pleased to serve that lord. I choose to believe that there is only one Lord, and his name is Jesus and his promise is that he will never leave us or forsake us. Who do you look to for what you need in life? If it is anything other than God then he is no longer on the throne of your life. Seek him today, he is waiting to hear your heart cry. Pastor Tim Franklin Galveston County Food Bank

· ”And after a time his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, "Lie with me." But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Behold, because of me my master has no concern about anything in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my charge.“ Genesis 39:7-8 ESV Joseph was an honorable man who found himself confronted with one of the more powerful temptations a man could face. Here was a woman begging him over and over and over to come have sex with her. Yet in the midst of a powerful temptation, Joseph stayed firm in his desire to honor God with his life, I wonder how many good Christian men would succumb to that kind of opportunity? This passage makes me think about some of the men I have worked with in my previous career. I remember hearing the conversations about how much they lusted over some actress or singer. It was an impossible thing to make happen, but the desire was real. And I have seen someone having to deal with the consequences of spending his families money at a place where women danced to entice men sexually. I have seen marriages destroyed when one spouse fell victim to the lustful desires for someone other than the one they committed their life to. So what do we do to keep honoring God with our lives when temptation comes, and it will come? We flee like Joseph fled, and if there is a consequence for fleeing, then we expect God to turn our sorrow to joy and our circumstances to opportunity, and believe he will lead us forward as we anticipate the return of the Kings of Kings. · Join us in prayer during our 21-Day Fast. Each day has a specific prayer focus. Monday-Friday meet us for prayer in the sanctuary at 6:30 p.m.. Today, we pray for God's presence to be poured out on those we know. Of course we want His Spirit to be poured out on the whole world, but today we especially focus on the world we interact with on a daily basis. We pray for an outpouring of God's Spirit upon ourselves, our family, our friends, our neighbors, all that we know and love! Galveston Urban-Ministries
