Chelsea Wick executive director, and creative art director, of The Hitchcock Chamber of Commerce.
Chelsea Wick is a power house when it comes to bringing community citizen entertainment that attracts economic/business. 3 years ago, The Chambers board had made the wise decision to incorporate new and fresh ideas that would assist The City of Hitchcock in modernizing our municipal, corporate status and local government, so as to keep up with the ongoing comprehensive changes and growing population. Chelsea is a one woman, all purpose, director. If she sees a problem, she is likely to take it on by herself and get it done. But prepared, with insightful discernment, to know when to ask for help. In two words, "Team Leader". She is very aware that taking care of herself first, means that she can give the best care to others. When she manifest a project, all of her determination and energy zero's in on the best strategy to bring the idea into fruition. As a single mother, successfully raising a rising star, her gorgeous daughter, (Isabella "Izzy" Lawson), the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Which is evident that Chelsea is a productive, responsible manager of her time, even though, it seems that, there is never enough time. I believe that Chelsea, as young executive, will advance beyond her academic achievements, with a mounting resume, complied of her work ethics and life skills. Don't get in her way! lol! She doesn't run away from challenges, but rather runs towards them. Her confident zeal, unquestionably is a result of, loving what she does. She knows who she is and what she is cable of. And just in case, that isn't clear, Chelsea, makes no hesitation to remind you. All of the mentioned above, in regards to her assertiveness, is not an outer shell. But more so, another part, of many parts, that make up who she is. The softer, gentler, yet, still strong, side of Chelsea, is a devoted friend, a loving caretaker, and passionate humanitarian. She is a generous, charitable, and unselfish defender as a voice for the people. The one criticism, that I dare to point out, (lol), is that she is a bit of a perfectionist and preforms over and above what her job requires. But that's just me, that feels that way. I have to accept that it's just who she is. Chelsea Wick is a prime example of todays powerful and independent women's movement. Bridget is originally from St. Paul, Minnesota where her family still lives.
She visits in the summertime to get away from the Houston heat! She went to school to be a teacher with an emphasis on special needs children. But, wanting to follow in her father’s footsteps of sales, she switched her emphasis. Bridget has worked in Sales at South Shore Harbour Resort for the past 28 years. She is currently the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Hotel. She keeps busy not only with work but she is also involved with 6 Boards and 4 committees. This keeps her constantly busy. She stays involved with local Chambers and supports the Bay Area community in any way that she can. Some of the Boards and Committees that she has worked with include Communities in Schools-Bay Area, Clear Lake Area Chamber, League City Chamber, United Way, Bay Area Ballet and Theater-Advisory, Bay Area Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, League City Convention and Visitors Bureau, Miss League City and Holiday in the Park. She has chaired many golf tournaments, business expo’s, non-profit special events and food and wine events. This is truly her forte and something she excels at. Her passions are her family-especially her nieces and their children. She enjoys golf and reading and a good movie. Wonder Women! Katherine Herrin Keith of La Marque, Tx.
If any woman deserves to wear, The Wonder Woman uniform, its Katherine Herrin Keith. She is literally a non-stop community activist, advocate and educator, spreading fun and love with books and crafts for school children, visiting our seniors, and veterans, supporting law enforcement, and all first responders, feeding the homeless, community clean up projects, animal rights defender, helping the physically and mentally challenged, and so much more. Katherine has received many awards, been featured in county news articles, and has earned many certificates for her all her hard work. She has created and belongs to many different, social media groups, clubs and charities. And, she even manages one of my social media groups in Hitchcock, as co-administrator. Thanks for watching my back Katherine. Always on the go, with the love of her life, husband, Mr. Ben Keith, they travel everywhere. All over Texas and beyond. Wherever the wind blows, she is adventurous and spontaneous. Ben and Katherine simply adore traveling to festivals, historical landmarks, and taking tours, as well as camping in the great outdoors. As a matter of fact. She just recently rode an actual bull at a rodeo as their guest cowgirl! Naturally, she was surrounded by an escort of handsome cowboys while riding the bull to keep her safe! Hey Ben! Where were you!? LOL! Katherine really does stands out as her avatar Wonder Woman, but she is also a nostalgic fashionista. A Re-sale shop diva ,with an eye for treasures gone by. She dons beautiful swing dresses, cat eye glasses, vintage cashmere sweaters, pin up high heels, the hairstyles of the era and of course no girl forgets her pearls. When Ben and Katherine dress for the occasion, they look like they just step out of a 1950's movie, as classic as she is. And when entertaining her close friends, at one of her theme parties, you can bet Katherine is the hostess with the mostess. She cooks all her own buffet style foods herself, and creates a celebratory atmosphere. Bottom line is this. Katherine lives life! She has a heart of gold with diamonds in her eyes. And they can see the good in most all things. I try to follow in in her footsteps, by creating new ideas to make peoples life happier and better, but I can't keep up with her. She is timeless and reminds us of better days. And, what is most significant about her, is that Katherine refuses to give in to, or engage with, the current chaos, division, anger, media hype and political immaturity, that has engulf much of the worlds minds and spirt. She does this by doing the exact opposite. She is a community leader that we all can be proud of. Penny Brockway
Penny Brockway has lived almost her entire life in Texas. Born in New Orleans, LA, Penny moved to Houston at the age of 6 months. She spent most of her young life in the Bay Area and graduated from Clear Creek High School. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching at Sam Houston State University, Penny taught third through eighth grades in Houston for 25 years, with a short leave of absence to stay home with her daughter, Emma Rose, for 4 years. When she wasn’t in the classroom, she volunteered with underprivileged children and was instrumental in helping to pilot a successful After School Activities Program to eliminate gang activity. It was her enthusiasm for nurturing her students that made her husband, James, fall in love with her. After years of being away, Penny felt it was time to go back to her roots in League City. Moving back to League City was an easy decision for Penny when Emma Rose entered middle school. She wanted the best education for her child and as a former educator, she felt that CCISD had the best to offer. She has been back home for 13 years. Soon after her arrival in League City, Penny ended her teaching career and obtained her real estate license. She and her husband are now the proud owners of Brockway Realty, LLC. Although she no longer teaches, she continues to stay involved in education by fundraising. As a former Clear Creek Wildcat alumna, Penny has strong ties to her community and loves to volunteer with local organizations fulfilling her passion for helping students and raising money for education. For the past several years, Penny has volunteered at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which raises millions of dollars each year for college scholarships. She was also the 55 th and 56th Chairwoman of the Lunar Rendezvous Festival in 2020 and 2021. As the 2019 President of the Women’s Council of Realtors Bay Area (WCR) Houston, she was able to raise scholarship money for students attending College of the Mainland and she is the CCISD liaison with the WCR to create a working relationship between the school district and realtors. In working with fundraising for children, Penny also works with Higher Up Texas. Penny joined the Board of Communities in Schools in 2019 and is the events chair. Because of her daughter’s extensive surgeries, she is an advocate for Shriners Hospitals for Children and continues to give them a portion of her income from Brockway Realty on a quarterly basis. Penny has consistently championed the success of children and young adults by committing her time in the classroom, volunteerism, and fundraising. Mayes Middleton
