Russia Funneled Cash to Anti-Fossil Fuel Climate Extremists
Picture
Russia Funneled Cash to Anti-Fossil Fuel Climate Extremists

Why did the West fail to deter Russia from invading Ukraine? Because we were lost in soft, renewable energy delusions while Putin was grounded in the hard physical reality of nuclear, oil, & natural gas. The West’s green delusions empowered Putin; While we banned plastic straws, Russia drilled and doubled nuclear energy production.

I have been sounding the alarm on Russia's attack on fossil fuels since back in 2017! For years Russian-backed organizations have been spreading Green New Deal propaganda throughout the West to ensure Putin had the upper hand when it comes to energy production.

In 2017 I sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin as part of an investigation undertaken by the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology to shine a light on how the Kremlin plotted to fund radical environmental groups inside the United States to shift public opinion and policy away from fossil fuels and energy independence.

Read the letter HERE and the full report HERE.

President Joe Biden's continued dismissal of domestic energy sources during his first year in office likely played right into the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has allegedly been providing covert active support to "green energy" activist groups around the globe for years in a bid to keep the U.S. — and, more importantly, Europe — addicted to Russian gas.

Among these propaganda efforts outlined by the Committee was "a covert anti-fracking campaign to suppress the widespread adoption of fracking in Europe and the U.S.–all in an effort to safeguard the influence of the Russian oil and gas sector" that was funded by "Russia and its government corporations."
During her failed presidential campaign, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lamented in a private speech the "phony environmental groups... funded by the Russians to stand against any effort — 'Oh that pipeline, that fracking, that whatever, will be a problem for you' — and a lot of the money supporting that message was coming from Russia" that she encountered during her time as President Obama's Secretary of State.

The U.S. intelligence community has also been aware of the anti-fossil fuel propaganda coming from Russia, including an admission in a report about Russia's actions surrounding the 2020 election that found "clear evidence that the Kremlin is financing and choreographing anti-fracking propaganda in the United States."

In addition to state-run media, the Kremlin also used non-profit organizations to influence Americans according to the letter from Congress to Secretary Mnuchin. Evidently, Russia's government and connected entities were using a shell company in Bermuda to "funnel tens of millions of dollars to a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) which then passes the funds from Russia to American environmental organizations like the Sierra Club, Conservation Voters Education Fund, and others. Those American non-profits then spend the grants "to execute a political agenda driven by Russian entities" while obscuring the source of the money: Russia.

A selection of Russian social media posts included in the Committee's report is more or less indistinguishable from leftist politicians and radical environmental activists. On Facebook, the Kremlin propaganda was posted to pages titled "Born Liberal," "Blacktivist," and "Native Americans United." On Twitter, Russians tweeted links to MoveOn.org petitions and posts on The Root that include anti-fossil fuel posts from Democrat lawmakers. One Russian post included in the report was a simple retweet of Senator Bernie Sanders' (I-VT) condemnation of American pipeline projects.

As Russia wages an unjust war against Ukraine, America needs to reverse the destructive anti-fossil fuel narrative.  It is time to shift our focus and take the necessary steps to regain our energy independence.  House Republicans put the American Energy Independence from Russia Act up for a vote on the House floor, which would jumpstart domestic energy production and increase the supply of oil in the market, but was unfortunately shot down by Democrats.

Pro-Putin NGO Pushed Green New Deal, Protested Keystone XL Pipeline

Gas Prices are Costing You $1,300

Picture
What would you do with $1,300? Go on vacation? Save for your kids’ college? Buy some new appliances?
Well, under Democrats’ America Last energy policies, the average household will have little choice but to spend $1,300 extra on gas to fill up their cars over the course of the year. Even while writing this, the price of gas just hit an all-time high.
It would be politically convenient for Democrats to blame these price surges on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. But the truth is Democrats’ own policies are responsible for putting America in this position in the first place. On Day One of his presidency, Biden halted the Keystone Pipeline and issued a moratorium on new oil and gas permits on federal lands. And then, in a baffling display of weakness, he gave the green light on a pipeline for Putin.  As Leader McCarthy warned on January 26th, 2021, these knee-jerk decisions were sure to “have a damaging effect up and down the energy supply chain.”
It didn’t take a crystal ball to see the steady rise in gas prices coming. President Biden's own spokesperson all but admitted that is their intent. In their twisted thinking, the higher gas prices are, the more "justified" their Green New Deal might look by comparison.
The worst part is it didn’t have to be this way. When Democrats’ one-party rule started last year, they were handed the keys to an energy-independent America, with average prices at the pump at just $2.53.
It’s still possible to get back to that, but judging by Democrats’ vote last week against American energy—it’s ultimately going to take a Republican majority in Congress.

Inflation and the Omnibuss

Picture
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released another alarming inflation report Thursday, showing consumer prices/Inflation has hit 7.9 percent over the past twelve months amid more than $6 trillion of new spending and borrowing by Congress to fight
Covid, compounded by the supply chain crisis that was also caused by Covid.

After essentially no change in wage growth in February, inflation eroded earnings further with real hourly earnings falling 2.6% over the year and real weekly earnings falling 2.3%. A recent report found that 64% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, which is 12% higher than in April 2021. Beyond inflation’s harmful effects on American families, last week the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) noted that higher inflation and corresponding interest rate increases could increase deficits by trillions of dollars, which RPC warned of last year.
Picture
And, even with inflation accelerating, Congress is moving another $1.5 trillion omnibus spending bill through the House and Senate this week in time for the  March 11 deadline, when the current continuing resolution funding the government expires.

Wednesday the House of Representatives voted on the Omnibus federal government funding legislation after Congress only received it at 2 a.m. This Omnibus contains an additional 6 percent increase in spending above the planned increases, not including additional Covid and Ukraine spending; it fails to lift any of the vaccine mandates leaving Americans subject to job loss by federal government regulation and bans Russian oil imports while not opening up any avenues for additional domestic oil or even authorizing the Keystone XL pipeline. This decision to not make changes to allow the increase in domestic oil and natural gas production ensures that Russian oil will be replaced by Iranian and/or Venezuelan oil — countries led by two of the worse despots in the world.

Even with a government shutdown looming I could not, in good conscience, vote to ignore the continuous attacks on American energy or agree to more reckless spending.  I voted NO.

This Week's Poll Question

Picture
Friends,

The price of gasoline had already hit a record high of $4.17 for a gallon of unleaded on Tuesday, according to AAA. That breaks the previous high of $4.10 a gallon, set in July 2008.

President Joe Biden's ban on Russian oil comes as gas prices soared to a record high, leaving Americans to wonder how much more they will have to shell out at the pump and if the move will have its intended effect of discouraging Russia's assault on Ukraine.

The president warned that the move would probably increase gas prices in the U.S. but said it was necessary in order to ramp up sanctions pressure on the Russian economy, in response to Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Shell announced Tuesday it would immediately stop buying Russian crude oil and other energy products from the country “in a phased manner.”

Energy analysts warn prices could climb as high as $200 a barrel for crude oil after oil sanctions are imposed by the West. At that level, the average price for a gallon of U.S. gasoline could exceed $5, a scenario Biden and other political figures are desperate to avoid.

But I want to hear from you!

Are you willing to pay more for gas to combat Russian aggression?

 Yes

ArmedArmed Conflict in Ukraine

Picture
Democrats’ war on energy and President Biden’s strategy on relations with Russia have increased our oil prices and threatens to leave us energy dependent instead of independent. This has emboldened Vladimir Putin to launch a full-scale armed conflict -- the likes of which we have not seen in Europe since WWII.

It is time for America to be the leader we have always been on the world stage and put an end to the policies that give Russia leverage. This includes: cancelling the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, reversing federal land drilling policy, prioritizing U.S. energy development, and coming together with our allies in the region to impose harsh sanctions.

If we fail to firmly stand with Ukraine and their people against this disgraceful attack, it won’t be long before China, Iran and North Korea will be emboldened as well.
Now is the time to be strong, stand by our allies in democracy and enact polices of long-term strength. The world is watching.

Ukraine and the Economy

Picture
In typical fashion, the mainstream media is acting as President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ propaganda arm. CBS News ran a story yesterday following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and President Biden’s press conference, claiming rising energy prices, skyrocketing inflation, and supply chain crisis were due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

DON’T BE FOOLED: America’s economic, energy, and supply chain crises have been skyrocketing for the past year due to Biden and Congressional Democrats’ failed Far-Left agenda and anti-energy policies.

BIDEN’S ECONOMIC CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS:

  • Biden’s first year in office went down as the worst year for inflation since 1981.
  • The consumer price index (CPI) surged 7.5% over the past year, the highest reading since February 1982, and higher than economists had predicted.
  • Americans are paying more for just about everything because of inflation.
  • Inflation is going up faster than wages.
  • Real wages have decreased under Biden 8 out of the 12 months during his first year in office.
    • Skyrocketing inflation affects low-income workers and minority workers the most.
  • Inflation is now costing the average American household OVER $250 a month.
  • In 2021, inflation cost the average worker nearly two paychecks and cost the average family $3,500, but since inflation pushes families into higher tax brackets, it totals to $5,000 per year for the average family.
BIDEN’S ENERGY CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS:
  • The national average for a gallon of gas was $3.53 on Wednesday.
    • Americans are now paying an extra $12 for a tank of gas on average compared to a year ago.
    • Americans have not paid this much for gas since the Obama-Biden administration.
  • U.S. households will pay between $700 and $1,700 more for heat this winter, depending upon where they live and what type of fuel they use.
  • According to a new report by the Heartland Institute, Biden’s anti-energy agenda cost Americans an extra $1,000 in energy costs last year.
  • Natural gas, which is used to heat nearly half of all U.S. homes, is 32% more expensive than it was a year ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Agency.
  • One in six American adults reported they could not pay their full energy bill in the last 12 months.
Instead of addressing the root causes of America’s economic crisis, the Biden administration is using the mainstream media to double down on their failed Far-Left Socialist agenda, which directly created the crises that are impacting all Americans.

Capitol Police Board

Picture
Last week, the Government Accountability Office (GAO), a non-partisan government watchdog agency, publicly released a new report that continues to document failures in leadership leading up to and on January 6th by the U.S. Capitol Police Board.
The report finds:

• The U.S. Capitol Police’s planning for January 6, 2021, did not reflect the potential for extreme violence aimed at the Capitol and did not include contingencies for support from other agencies.

• On January 6, the Capitol Police and the Capitol Police Board, which oversees the Capitol Police, used various different authorities to obtain assistance from about 2,000 personnel from outside agencies. However, the Capitol Police and the Board lacked clear, detailed procedures to guide their decisions about which authority to use or the steps to follow in obtaining assistance.

• The Capitol Police’s process for assessing and mitigating physical security risks to the Capitol complex is not comprehensive or documented. Also, how the Capitol Police Board considers and decides which physical security recommendations made by the Capitol Police should be implemented is unclear.

The GAO had made four recommendations to the Capitol Police Board and the Capitol Police as a result of this report. It should be noted that the Capitol Police Board did not take a position on GAO’s recommendations. The Capitol Police agreed with GAO’s recommendations.

These findings continue to support what House Administration Republicans have been saying about the problems with the Capitol Police Board and the need for reform.

This Week's Poll Question

Picture
Friends,

Although many Americans may prefer that the U.S. stay out of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the brewing violence and political fallout are already hurting their wallets.

The price of oil, which has been rising over the past year, hit an eight-year high this week as traders reacted to geopolitical tensions. Gas prices are likely to surge even further if the ongoing hostilities escalate or if U.S. lawmakers pass another round of sanctions, according to experts.

But I want to hear from you!

Do you think the Russian invasion will have an economic impact on the United States?

 Yes

Rep. Weber Releases Statement on Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

Washington, D.C. - Thursday, February 24, 2022. U.S. Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14) released a statement on Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

War and Iran’s Nuclear Program

Picture
President Biden is once again showcasing weakness on the world stage as Iran is possibly “weeks” away from having enough material for nuclear weapons capabilities. Instead of imposing harsh sanctions on Iran, the Biden administration announced it is waiving sanctions on non-military international cooperation with Iran’s nuclear program.

MAKE NO MISTAKE: The Biden administration’s weakness has given Iran the necessary resources to finish building up their nuclear program.

BIDEN’S WEAKNESS TOWARD IRAN:

  • Biden has spent the last year tripping over himself to get back into the disastrous nuclear deal, providing Iran with concession after concession.
    •  Biden even asked South Korea to pay Iran’s UN dues so they could vote in the UN General Assembly.
  • Biden has failed to enforce sanctions against Iran. Over 2020 to 2021, Iran has increased its oil export total by 123 million barrels – an increase of more than 40%.
    • For the first time, China officially reported it is importing Iranian oil. The U.S. took no action to enforce current sanctions that prohibit such sales.
  • Inflation and rising gas prices, resulting from and exacerbated by Biden’s failed policies, are NOT an excuse to allow Iran to complete their development of a nuclear weapon, which will jeopardize the security of the U.S. or our allies.
  • Iran and its radical ayatollahs are quickly marching towards boosting nuclear weapon capabilities. Iran has stopped cooperating with nuclear weapons inspectors. They have proven a lack of compliance to previously established red lines by undertaking nuclear work that goes beyond civilian use. Most recently, the White House admitted that any new deal wouldn’t stop production of a nuclear bomb.
  • Israel has now warned that by returning to this deal, Iran would be just a few months away from nuclear weapons capabilities.
  • All the while, Iran has been arming terrorists across the Middle East, continues to hold Americans hostage, and has plotted the kidnapping of American citizens on U.S. soil.
BOTTOM LINE: Biden’s willingness to re-enter the disastrous JCPOA and his weakness in negotiations is just one more example of President Biden’s failed leadership, which has emboldened our enemies and abandoned our allies.

This weekend, 13 police officers were shot and wounded across the country in just 24 hours. These violent attacks against our police officers can be directly attributed to Congressional Democrats’ constant demonization and continued push to have our police departments defunded.

A spokeswoman for the National Police Association told Fox News:

"This is what we call the war on cops."

"[w]e are constantly attacked, and we are either attacked doing very simple things — traffic stop, responding to a 911 call, a domestic. All of that."

This violent weekend against our nation's law enforcement comes as 2021 saw a nearly 59% increase in police officer deaths in the line of duty, the most since 1995.

DEMOCRATS’ CRIME CRISIS:

  • Under President Biden, more police officers were killed in the line of duty in 2021 than in any year since 1995.
    • In 2021, 73 police officers were killed - a 59% increase from 2020.
  • According to the National Fraternal Order of Police, at least 30 police officers were shot in January, which is a 67% increase from last year.
  • A new Politico/Morning Consult poll shows 2 in 3 voters, 69% of Americans, think more police funding would decrease crime.
    • A new Ipsos poll also found that 64% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of crime.
  • In 2021, over a dozen U.S. cities set new homicide records in 2021.
  • In 2021, there were 346 officers shot, 63 of whom were killed by gunfire.
  • In 2021, there were 103 ambush-style attacks on law enforcement officers, a 115% increase from 2020.
  • Progressive prosecutors are in cities that represent over 20% of the nation’s population.
DEMOCRATS WHO SUPPORT DEFUNDING THE POLICE:
  • President Biden famously expressed support for the Defund the Police movement during an interview in 2020 but was forced to walk back his position after public backlash to his position.
  • Vice President Kamala Harris applauded Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti for defunding the police.
  • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said, “defunding police means defunding police.” Arguing the cuts to the NYPD weren’t enough.
  • Rep. Ayanna Pressley said she supports efforts to defund police departments.
  • Rep. Rashida Tlaib called for ‘no more police.’
    • Tlaib’s campaign has paid over $150,000 to an anti-Semitic and defund the police activist, Rasha Mubarak.
  • Rep. Ilhan Omar said “not only do we need to defund, we need to dismantle” Police Departments.
  • Rep. Cori Bush said that she would “make sure” she has private security for her protection while simultaneously promising to defund the police for the rest of America.
    • Rep. Cori Bush then doubled down in her support for defunding our police departments on Twitter.
    • In February, Bush said she would not stop calling for our police departments to be defunded.
  • President Biden’s Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke supported efforts to “defund the police.”
  • President Biden’s Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta said officials must heed calls to “decrease police budgets and the scope, role, and responsibility of police in our lives.”
  • President Biden’s Secretary of Labor, Marty Walsh, proposed a budget to divert funding from law enforcement.
REMINDER: House Democrats are STILL pushing their Defund the Police rhetoric as this crime crisis surges. Defunding and demonizing the police like this has dangerous consequences.

Clinton Lied, Clinton Spied

Picture
Special Counsel John Durham filed a motion late last week which revealed that Hillary Clinton's failed presidential campaign paid a technology company to "infiltrate" servers belonging to Trump Tower, and later the White House, in order to establish a false link between Donald Trump and Russia.

After Trump won the election and was sworn into office, the DNC sought to exploit federal contracts the internet company had with the executive branch in order to spy on the White House. Per Durham: “Internet Company-1, had come to access and maintain dedicated servers for the EOP [Executive Office of the President] as part of a sensitive arrangement whereby it provided DNS resolution services to the EOP. Tech Executive-1 and his associates exploited this arrangement by mining the EOP’s DNS traffic and other data for the purpose of gathering derogatory information about Donald Trump.”

This is Watergate times 1,000: Bugging a presidential campaign both before and after the election, and then carrying on the surveillance into the White House itself, all to establish a false “narrative” and “inference” that Trump was actually a Manchurian Candidate who Moscow controlled. It is almost beyond belief.

Every media outlet, especially those that pushed the Russia collusion hoax, have a duty to cover the realities of John Durham’s investigation. There must be accountability for those who broke the law to falsely smear President Trump.

Fentanyl Crisis

Picture
America is in the midst of a drug epidemic fueled by fentanyl, a deadly substance, which is now the leading cause of death for Americans 18-45.
President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ open border policies have allowed fentanyl to flow across our southern border and into our communities. In FY21, enough fentanyl was seized by Customs and Border Protection to kill every American nearly seven times over.
Instead of addressing the fentanyl crisis gripping our nation, Speaker Pelosi and Congressional Democrats are kicking the can down the road by blocking Republican legislation that would effectively ban the selling of the molecularly-altered fentanyl substance manufactured by criminals.
AMERICA’S FENTANYL CRISIS:
  • President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ open-border policies have allowed for fentanyl to flow across our borders and into our communities.
  • Drug overdose deaths in the U.S. topped 100,000 in 2021, for the first time ever in a year.
    • In 2021, U.S. drug overdoses due to fentanyl skyrocketed, and it is now reported to be the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-45.
  • Fentanyl is freely flowing across our borders as seizures increased by 134% in FY2021, under President Biden’s watch.
    • In FY21, 11,201 pounds of fentanyl were seized by Customs and Border Protection, which is enough to kill every American nearly seven times over.
  • Fentanyl poising deaths doubled in 30 states between 2019 and 2021, according to an analysis of U.S. government data.
  • Fentanyl and its analogs are easier to produce than cocaine or heroin – it only takes a few hours to make – and is up to 20 times more profitable. Since small doses of fentanyl create intense effects, it’s easier to illegally smuggle small batches across the border.
  • Criminal drug cartels are flooding the U.S. with counterfeit pills. More counterfeit pills have been seized so far in 2021 than the previous two years combined, with two out of every five pills containing a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl.
  • So much fentanyl and fentanyl-related poisons are flooding the U.S., the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issued its first public safety alert in six years warning the public about fake pills laced with lethal doses of fentanyl.
  • On February 18, 2022, the emergency class-wide scheduling order for fentanyl-related substances is set to expire. Instead of working with House Republicans to address this issue Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats are simply kicking the can down the road.
    • These poisons can be as deadly and even more dangerous than pure fentanyl. There are deadly consequences if Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats allow this order to expire or continue to kick the can down the road with temporary extensions.
    • Republicans are taking swift action to make the emergency class-wide scheduling order for fentanyl-related substances permanent and make sure law enforcement has the tools they need to keep extremely lethal and dangerous drugs off our streets and from crossing the border.
    • Last week House Democrats blocked the common sense “HALT Fentanyl Act,” offered by Reps. Morgan Griffith and Bob Latta which would make it illegal for this drug to be used outside of research purposes, effectively banning the selling of the molecularly-altered fentanyl substance manufactured by criminals.
This week the Border Security Caucus (BSC) met with undercover journalist, Jorge Ventura, to get a glimpse into what the Administration and the mainstream media don't want you to know about the border crisis.
The crisis at the border is affecting more than just border towns. Cartels are taking over small towns all over the west coast and the influx of fentanyl has reached record highs. The border crisis has been undeniably exacerbated by this Administration's border policy. Ventura, told BSC, "I always get the same answer when I ask human smugglers and drug traffickers if their job is easier or harder under President Biden."  It is undeniable President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ open-border policies have allowed for fentanyl to flow across our borders and into our communities.
MAKE NO MISTAKE:
America’s fentanyl crisis will only become more severe without serious Congressional action.

Unmask our Children

Picture
This week, 221 House Democrats blocked consideration of the Unmask Our Kids Act -H.R. 6619.
This bill would block local education agencies from receiving Department of Education funding unless:
  • Schools are open for in-person learning
  • School mask mandates allow parents to opt-out on behalf of their children
House Democrats are playing politics and want you to believe they’re following the science. If they really trusted the science, they would have voted for the Unmask Our Kids Act because the data against school-mask requirements are abundantly clear.
COVID-19, mercifully, is simply not as deadly for children. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, preliminary data from 45 states show that between 0.00%-0.03% of child COVID-19 cases resulted in death.

When you combine these numbers with the CDC study that found mask mandates for students — along with hybrid models, social distancing, and classroom barriers — did not have a statistically significant benefit in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in schools, the insistence that we force students to jump through these hoops for their own protection makes no sense.
Democrat governors and local officials have forced children to mask in school with total disregard for the social, developmental, and emotional consequences. The damage, unfortunately, is already done for too many children who are behind in their education.

With many Democrats across the country suddenly waking up to this reality, seeking to reverse harsh and arbitrary school mask mandates, the American people cannot forget the harm that has already been inflicted.

  • The Biden Justice Department issued an October 4th memo targeting parents based on a since-rescinded letter from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) which compared the outraged of concerned parents to “domestic terrorism and hate crimes.”
  • In cities such as Chicago, teachers' unions have led the charge against the best interest of children and against the science, and Democrats have failed to send a clear signal to these left-leaning unions that kids belong in the classroom.
Ultimately, this administration is undermining parents' rights and harming children. Many school districts are mandating masks for children of all ages, against their parents’ wishes. Parents should have the option to send their kids to school in person and to decide whether they want their kids to wear a mask at school.
Our kids deserve normalcy and parents should have the final say when it comes to personal health decisions that impact their families. I will never stop fighting for our children and families!

IRS Backlog and Surveillance Scheme

Picture
This week marked the official start of tax season. Unfortunately, tax filers everywhere can expect a frustrating process and potentially lengthy delays on their returns.
The Biden administration blames a lack of IRS funding for the backlog. In reality, the IRS’s problems stem from two primary issues: the slowdown in service due to pandemic telework policies and a series of Democrat programs, like Obamacare subsidies and monthly Child Tax Credit payments, which have shifted agency resources away from its core missions of tax compliance and customer service.
President Biden has no plan to address the painful IRS backlog. Instead, President Biden and congressional Democrats and instead are adding more to the agency’s plate and prioritizing a weaponized IRS.  They have proposed an additional $80 billion for the IRS, this funding would be directed to enforcement – particularly new audits of farms and small businesses, not return processing and customer service.
President Biden has also proposed using the IRS to monitor Americans’ spending by requiring financial institutions to share certain banking transactions – a massive overreach and abuse of government authority which would create more work for local banks and credit unions. This is especially outrageous considering the agency has a long track record of targeting taxpayers for their political views, not to mention their history of data being leaked to the press. I adamantly oppose this change and have cosponsored legislation to prohibit this violation of taxpayer privacy.
 What you need to know:
  • The Biden Administration now requires Americans to report to the IRS all business transactions using third-party payments – like Venmo and PayPal – for goods or services over $600 thanks to a provision hidden in Democrats’ partisan $2 trillion stimulus bill from March.
  • The new reporting requirements will ensure anyone who sells a couch or pays a babysitter electronically could trigger further IRS scrutiny.
  • This violates President Biden’s own promise that greater tax enforcement wouldn’t hit lower or middle-income Americans.
  • President Biden’s plan to flood the IRS with $80 billion in mandatory funding for an army of 87,000 new IRS auditors which will turn local banks into chapters of the IRS and increase audits for every American with a job and will also lead to drastically higher audit rates for all Americans at every income level according to the Congressional Budget Office.
  • There’s very little evidence suggesting the IRS estimate on unpaid taxes (dubbed the “tax gap”) is accurate, given that it may be based on data from seven years ago or wild guesses on foreign transactions, cryptocurrency, concealed income, and other sectors.
  • Given the agency’s inability to protect confidential taxpayer data over the last decade, the American people are rightfully concerned about the implications of giving the IRS a vast amount of new private data.
How Republicans are fighting back:
  • Republicans have introduced the Tax Gap Reform and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Enforcement Act, which allows for a better understanding of the tax gap, provides smarter enforcement, ensures the IRS uses all of the resources at its disposal and addresses the expertise gap at the IRS.
  • In January, top Republicans at the Ways and Means Committee and Appropriations Committee sent a letter to IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig requesting a plan on how the IRS would address the more than 16 million outstanding tax returns.
  • In December, 99 House Republicans, urged the agency to resolve its processes and prepare for the tax filing season.

This Week's Poll Question

Picture
Friends,

House Republicans recently uncovered that the ATF has been illegally keeping nearly a billion records of firearm transactions.

We are extremely concerned that this database will be used to take firearms away from American citizens. The Biden Administration may use this to implement its ban on nearly 40,000,000 pistols later this summer!

According to a Rasmussen Reports survey in Nov. 2021, two-thirds of Republicans believe the policy will lead to gun confiscation, and even 40% of Democrats believe the same.

The facts don't support the need for a gun registry.
  • Most crimes that do involve registered guns, they’re usually recovered because the criminal was killed or injured.
  • In exceptionally few cases, the criminal will leave a registered firearm and it will be registered to the actual criminal.
  • Gun registries in Hawaii, Pennsylvania,  Maryland, Washington DC, New York, and Canada have done very little to help with criminal investigations.
If the trade-off for having a gun registry is giving the government a directory on who to take guns from in exchange for almost no aid to law enforcement, then anyone pro-gun should totally reject such a bad trade.

But I want to hear from you!
Do you believe the U.S. government compiling information on Americans who own firearms could lead to all weapons being confiscated?

COMPETES Act

This week, on behalf of the House Science, Space, & Technology Committee, I addressed the House Rules Committee on Amendment to H.R. 4521- America COMPETES Act of 2022.

At nearly 3,000 pages, H.R. 4521 is a partisan package tossed together by Democratic leadership behind closed doors with no Republican input.
The Science Committee already passed through committee thoughtful, bipartisan legislation to increase our investment in basic research, spur private sector innovation, and secure our nation’s leadership in R&D to combat growing threats from China. This is a stark contrast to the process we are witnessing with Speaker Pelosi’s COMPETES Act.

Now we are left with a toxic bill that gets us no closer to reaching a bicameral, bipartisan deal on this legislation. This is what happens when the Speaker’s office twists around good legislation and contaminates it with messaging bills to appease the extreme leftists in her caucus.
We have bipartisan momentum to take action on China. So instead of voting on this partisan catch-all bill, with more references to coral reefs than to China, let’s focus in on what’s most important: Strengthening American competitiveness and holding China accountable for its actions.
The nearly 3,000 page CONCEDES Act does nothing to counter the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for their malign actions. Instead, this bill destroys America’s competitive advantage while lining the pockets of those responsible for unleashing COVID-19 on the world. This legislation will put China first and America LAST.
THE FACTS ABOUT CONCEDES ACT:
  • At 2,900 pages and a $325 billion price tag, the Democrats’ America Concedes Act is the opposite of countering the Chinese Communist Party.
  • Authorizes $8 BILLION to pour into an unaccountable U.N. climate slush fund, which has already awarded $100 million to China.
    • It does not guarantee the $8 billion won't be used to purchase things like solar panels or batteries, whose supply chains in China are tainted by genocide.
    • Democrats rejected attempts to prohibit the Chinese Communist Party from accessing the billions of dollars they want to pour into the Fund.
  • Gives unions unfair advantages over small businesses and independent workers by adding Davis-Bacon provisions to previously bipartisan policies.
  • Mentions climate change 156 times.
  • Tries to appease Chairman Xi by omitting the word “genocide” from provisions on human rights in Xinjiang, despite the House having voted twice to call it genocide.
  • Covers up for the Biden Administration’s giveaway of $40 billion in no-strings-attached IMF money to the CCP last spring, and their support for $130 billion more last summer.
  • Authorizes $2 billion annually with no sunset for a “new” International Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation, and Security Program, essentially doubling up on programs and activities already being conducted by State and USAID.
  • Creates “Climate Change Officers” within the Foreign Service, weakening our diplomats’ focus on core U.S. national interests.
  • It includes no measures to hold Communist China accountable for their covering up COVID-19 or ongoing genocide against religious minorities in their country.
  • Grants the Department of the Treasury unchecked authority to block Americans’ digital currency payments worldwide
  • Provides no resources to enforce our sanctions laws or increase our military strength, including omitting provisions on export controls, security assistance to allies facing CCP aggression, and failing to curtail CCP military modernizations and weapons development.
  • It includes millions to study coral reefs.

Beaumont Prison

Picture
I am deeply troubled by the loss of life that occurred this week at the United States Penitentiary, Beaumont. However, I am thankful that no Correctional Officers were harmed during yesterday’s incident. I am also thankful that these officers put their lives on the line, every day, for work that must be done.

My office is monitoring the situation.  Yesterday, I spoke directly with with Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) officials, including Warden Dobbs to get a status update.
  • All prisons are currently secured under lockdown, but the lockdowns are expected to be short lived
  • Inmates are still receiving normal care, reading materials, and food.
  • The fight resulted in, 2 deaths, 2 hospitalizations.
  • Incident appears to be MS13 related
  • Prison officials are aware of gangs in the prison systems, including MS13.
  • No staff were hurt during the incident
  • Alarm for the fight was triggered by the staff, and the fight was stopped within minutes
  • FBI is involved in the investigation
  • Violence was contained to only the Pen

While instances of prison violence are not always avoidable, staffing shortages across the federal system—and especially at the Federal Correctional Center (FCC) in Beaumont—contribute to dangerous working conditions that endanger the lives of guards and inmates alike. As a member of the BOP Reform Caucus, I have worked to address staffing shortages by introducing H.R. 5761, the Pay Our Correctional Officers Fairly Act. When this bill is signed into law, it will make wages more competitive for BOP employees at FCC Beaumont and throughout the nation.

Additionally, I was joined by Congressman Clay Higgins and Rep. Brian Babin in sending a letter to BOP Director Michael Carvajal on September 29, 2021, addressing the staffing issues at FCC Beaumont.

If the underlying issues that plague the BOP are not addressed, I am afraid that we will continue to see instances of violence throughout the federal prison system. I will continue to work with my colleagues on the BOP Reform Caucus to address these concerns, and I call on Director Carvajal to fulfill his duty as Director of the BOP to take immediate action to secure our prisons and to work with Congress to solve the staffing problems.

Skyrocketing Crime Rates

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki mocked Fox News' coverage of Democrats' soft-on-crime policies, saying, "what does that even mean," during a recent interview.

Psaki's comments reinforce the Biden administration and Congressional Democrats' inability to take seriously the rising crime rates that are endangering American communities and our nation's law enforcement.

Biden's crime crisis is directly tied to radical Democrats' support for the defund the police movement.

DEMOCRATS’ CRIME CRISIS:

  • Following a year of defunding the police rhetoric from President Biden and Congressional democrats, over a dozen major U.S. cities had record high homicide rates in 2021.
    • At least 16 U.S. cities have set new homicide records in 2021, according to local police departments.
    • In 2021, there were 346 officers shot, 63 of whom were killed by gunfire.
    • In 2021, there were 103 ambush-style attacks on law enforcement officers, a 115% increase from 2020.
  • Rep. Ilhan Omar said “not only do we need to defund, we need to dismantle” Police Departments.
  • Rep. Cori Bush said that she would “make sure” she has private security for her protection while simultaneously promising to defund the police for the rest of America.
President Biden’s Secretary of Labor, Marty Walsh, proposed a budget to divert funding from law enforcement.

Afghanistan Failure

Picture
President Biden's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan left unknown numbers of Americans stranded behind enemy lines and led to the deadliest attack on Americans in Afghanistan since August 2011.

Now, newly leaked documents from the Biden White House reveal just how "unprepared" President Biden and his administration were for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

The documents indicate that those outside of the administration felt Biden "lacked urgency" as the administration was still scrambling to prepare an evacuation and relocation plan for civilians and Afghan staff the afternoon before Taliban forces took over the capital city of Kabul during the conclusion of the U.S.'s disastrous withdrawal.

According to Axios reporting:

“The document regarded "Relocations out of Afghanistan," and the meeting was held from 3:30-4:30pm on the afternoon of Aug. 14, Washington time.

“At that moment, Taliban fighters were descending upon Kabul.”

“Mark Jacobson, deputy NATO representative in Afghanistan during the Obama administration, told Axios: ‘That so much planning, prioritizing, and addressing of key questions had not been completed, even as Kabul was about to fall, underscores the absence of adequate interagency planning.’”

THE FACTS ABOUT BIDEN’S FAILED WITHDRAWAL:
  • President Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan has led to:
    • UNKNOWN HUNDREDS of Americans were abandoned behind enemy lines in Afghanistan for months.
      • The administration admitted they did not know how many Americans remained in Afghanistan.
    • The deadliest attack on Americans in Afghanistan since August 2011 occurred because of Biden’s failed leadership.
    • Unknown BILLIONS of dollars in U.S. military equipment is now in the hands of the Taliban.
  • Terrorists are now emboldened to attack Americans.
    • ISIS-K has demonstrated the ability to launch attacks despite recent setbacks and depleted numbers.
    • Al Qaeda has renewed calls for lone-wolf attacks on the U.S. homeland.
TIMELINE FLASHBACK:
  • Biden is the one who decided to pull out U.S. forces by the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
  • Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan was NOT conditions-based.
    • The conditions of President Trump’s agreement were continuously violated by the Taliban and the Biden administration did not hold them accountable.
    • The Biden administration had been warned that the Taliban would stop at nothing until they retook the country. Now, the Taliban is back and the United States is less safe .
  • The decision by the Biden Administration to abandon Bagram Air Base early and leave only a few hundred troops at Hamid Karzai International Airport opened the door to the Taliban’s rapid takeover.
    • Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs John Kirby joined CNN where he ADMITTED the Administration has NO PLANS to help Americans get out of Afghanistan.
    • White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki refused to admit that Americans are stranded in Afghanistan, despite an abundance of evidence to the contrary.
These leaked documents further prove that President Biden is to blame for the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. No one else.

This Week's Poll Question

Friends,

President Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland visited New York City on Thursday to talk about combating crime.  Despite over a dozen major U.S. cities experiencing record high homicide rates in 2021, the White House is hard at work in Washington D.C. putting the final touches on an executive order focusing on police "accountability".

While the executive order focuses specifically on federal law enforcement, it may serve as a model for local police departments across the country. The proposed order comes at a time when crime is high, and in many departments federal and local, morale is low.

Instead of providing law enforcement with the resources they need to combat the increase in violence, the proposal directs the Department of Justice to "establish the National Law Enforcement Accountability Database in order to provide a centralized repository of official records documenting instances of law enforcement officer misconduct."

The draft in its current form does not cut funding, but orders federal agencies to change policies, including banning chokeholds, reforming the body-worn camera policy, and restricting the use of "no-knock entries."

But I want to hear from you!

Do you think Biden's proposed police reform executive order will empower law enforcement to better combat crime?

Washington, D.C. - Tuesday, February 1, 2022. U.S. Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14) released a statement on the deadly incident that occurred yesterday at Beaumont Federal Prison.

"I am deeply troubled by the loss of life that occurred yesterday, January 31, 2022, at the United States Penitentiary, Beaumont.  While we await more information from officials at the facility and the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), our office has also offered assistance.  I am thankful that no Correctional Officers were harmed during yesterday’s incident. National Security

Picture
President Biden has just concluded his first year in office and his repeated weakness on the world stage has emboldened our adversaries in Moscow, Beijing, and Tehran. Nowhere has Biden’s weakness been more apparent than with his inability to stand up to Vladimir Putin.
Biden has continued to show weakness in the face of Russian aggression against Ukraine by capitulating on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and discussing the possibility of concessions.
MAKE NO MISTAKE:
America’s national security crisis is a result of Joe Biden’s weakness.

BIDEN’S NATIONAL SECURITY CRISIS
BIDEN'S AFGHANISTAN FAILURE:
  • President Biden is to blame for the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan. No one else.
    • President Biden's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan led to an unknown number of Americans being abandoned behind enemy lines in Afghanistan.
    • The Taliban are now in possession of American weapons, including helicopters, airplanes, tanks, Humvees, and other military-grade weapons.
BIDEN'S FAILURE TO HOLD RUSSIA ACCOUNTABLE:
  • Biden caved and failed to sanction the now-complete Nord Stream II pipeline, giving Russia a stranglehold on European energy supplies.
    • The Biden White House sent top officials to lobby Senate Democrats against Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) legislation, which would sanction Russian President Vladimir Putin's Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
    • Let that sink in: The President of the United States is now lobbying on behalf of Russian interests.
  • President Biden's weakness and inability to hold Russia accountable for their cyber-attacks resulted in the largest ransomware attack in HISTORY.
    • In June, President Biden shared a list of critical infrastructure which he reportedly told Putin should be "off-limits" from Russian-backed cyberattacks.
    • ALL of America should be off-limits from Russian-backed cyberattacks.
BIDEN'S FAILURE TO HOLD CHINA ACCOUNTABLE FOR COVID:
  • President Biden and his administration have proven that they will not hold Communist China accountable for its lack of transparency and mishandling of the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • Despite the mounting evidence that COVID-19 originated from a Chinese lab, House Democrats have not held a single hearing on the origins of COVID-19 despite House Republicans' numerous requests for investigation.
  • It's simple. China lied, and Americans died. They must be held accountable.
BIDEN'S FAILURE TO STAND WITH ISRAEL:
  • In March, President Biden quietly gave $75 million of US taxpayer dollars to the Palestinian Authority despite their "Pay to Slay" program.
  • The Biden Administration is begging the Iranian terrorist regime to rejoin the failed Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear deal.
  • Biden called for a ceasefire in the fight between Israel and Hamas when Israel was fighting to defend itself from Hamas bombings.
  • President Biden has praised Far-Left Members of Congress for their "passion" after they called Israel a "terrorist" and "apartheid" state.
  • The Biden Administration is planning to reopen the U.S. consulate for Palestinians in Jerusalem despite objections of the Israeli government.
BIDEN'S FAILURE TO STAND WITH THE CUBAN PEOPLE:
  • The Biden Administration has refused to stand with the Cuban people in their fight for freedom.
  • After 62 years of oppressive communist tyranny, the Cuban people are demanding an end to the murderous communist regime. The Biden Administration remained silent.
  • We must stand in solidarity with the Cuban people's fight for freedom, rally worldwide support, and lead on this issue.
We need a leader that puts America FIRST, not our foreign adversaries. Russia, China, and radical Islamic terrorists are all stronger today because of Biden's actions

Science Committee

Picture
This week Speaker Nancy Pelosi a released competitiveness package totaling nearly 3,000 pages H.R. 4521  This is simply a partisan package cobbled together by Democratic leadership with no Republican input.

By combining competitiveness bills with partisan poison pills, H.R. 4521 undoes more than a year of bipartisan work by the House Science Committee to develop and pass comprehensive legislation to double investment in basic research.

The House Science Committee passed more than a dozen bills to strategically scale-up America's research and development capabilities over the next decade, ensuring the Chinese Communist Party does not achieve its goal of overtaking the U.S. in science and technology, giving them a dangerous economic and national security advantage.

Central to this work are the National Science for the Future Act and the Department of Energy Science for the Future Act, which passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support in June. Ranking Member Lucas noted that while there are significant policy differences between these bills and the Senate's U.S. Innovation and Competition Act (USICA), there was a good possibility of finding a consensus agreement through a formal House and Senate conference.

The House Science Committee created strategic, smart, bipartisan bills that would ensure America’s leadership in science and technology over the next decade.  We have been urging Democratic leadership to begin conferencing these bills with the Senate since June, to no avail. And now that Speaker Pelosi has finally decided to act, she has done so with no regard for all of this bipartisan work. Instead of focusing on strong consensus policies, she’s filled her package with poison pills with no bipartisan support.

This bill actually weakens our ability to deal with the malign influence from China. We cannot afford to play politics while the Chinese Communist Party threatens our economic and national security.

Last week House Science, Space, and Technology Committee also passed five bipartisan bills at a full committee markup. This legislation supports a wide variety of research and development touching on biomanufacturing, digital privacy, abandoned well remediation, nuclear energy, and microelectronics. The diversity of these bills demonstrate the incredible potential of the U.S. scientific enterprise. Whether it’s improving healthcare and food production through bioengineering or protecting the privacy of Americans online, my colleagues on the House Science Committee and are committed to bipartisan efforts to address the challenges of the future.

The bills passed include:

H.R. 847, the Promoting Digital Privacy Technologies Act,
which helps advance innovative technologies to protect Americans' personally identifiable information.

H.R. 4270, the Abandoned Well Remediation Research and Development Act,
which authorizes research on how to locate, plug, claim, and repurpose wells, giving producers, landowners, and state and local governments better tools to reduce environmental impacts and promote clean energy production.

H.R. 4819, the National Nuclear University Research Infrastructure Reinvestment Act,
which establishes university-based research reactors to help the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program and the Low-Dose Radiation Program—critical to America's global leadership in the next generation of clean energy.

H.R. 6291, the Microelectronics Research for Energy Innovation Act,
which helps address the decline of domestic semiconductor manufacturing and promotes advanced semiconductor development through cross-cutting research and development work.

Border Agents

Picture
Back in September President Biden vowed that US Border Patrol agents on horseback who tried to stop illegal Haitian immigrants from crossing the Rio Grande “will pay” — even though the photographer who captured the activity said his images had been “misconstrued” amid unfounded claims the reins were used as whips.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas vowed before Congress last fall to investigate and conclude within "a matter of days, not weeks," if agents were too aggressive. Yet four moths later the results of the investigation have not been released. I wrote to Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for the release of the investigation.

Our Border Patrol agents, tasked with defending our nation from the unprecedented waves of illegal immigration, have experienced nothing but criticism from this Administration and deserve to have the record set straight.

On Monday, I had the honor of speaking at Bob Hope Middle School for National School Choice Week to speak about my commitment to better schools and a better education for our constituents.

Just one of the many benefits of school choice is an increase in parental involvement and assumes more direct accountability by parents. We should have learned this by now!

Thank you to Bob Hope Middle School for the invitation and for all you are doing for our children in Port Arthur!

Tuesday, I visited with the Golden Triangle Business Roundtable and the Industrial Safety Training Council about the many exciting upcoming projects heading to Southeast Texas.

Our 14th Congressional District is the energy powerhouse of Texas, if not the entire United States. I’m happy to support them and help power our community into the future.

Thursday, I was honored to speak at Houston’s Holocaust Museum in observance of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

As we remember the 6 million Jews who tragically lost their lives in the Holocaust it is also imperative that we remember all those who fought tirelessly to defeat the Nazi regime.

With rising levels of anti-Semitic sentiment and attacks spreading in the West, we should emulate those brave men and women and, in their spirit, commit to combating anti-Semitism in all of it forms.

While I was there, I also had the opportunity to speak with Ukraine’s Consul General Vitalii Tarasiuk and H.E. Dan-Andrei Muraru, Ambassador of Romania to the US.
We talked about Putin’s aggression trying to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. I say that NATO needs to join Ukraine! Prevent the dictator’s aggression!

This Week's Poll Question

Picture

Friends,
With Russia threatening to invade Ukraine, less than a third of voters want American troops deployed to defend against such an attack.
A new national telephone and online survey by Rasmussen Reports finds that only 31% of Likely U.S. voters think that if Russia attacks Ukraine, U.S. combat troops should be sent to help defend Ukraine. Thirty-six percent (36%) are against sending American troops to Ukraine, while 33% are undecided.
But I want to hear from you!

If Russia attacks Ukraine, should U.S. combat troops be sent to help defend Ukraine?

One Year - One Party Rule

January 20th marked the one-year anniversary of Joe Biden being sworn in as President of the United States and the one-year anniversary of one-party far-left Democrat rule in Washington.
The result? A year of unprecedented crises. The American people face an economic crisis, an energy crisis, a border crisis, an education crisis, a crime crisis, a COVID-19 crisis, and a national security crisis because of Biden and Congressional Democrats' failed leadership and Far-Left Socialist agenda.
Yet, during a rare Press Conference, Biden asked “What are Republicans for?” That answer is simple: We are for freedom. For family. For security. For prosperity. And we fight for the American people. To secure our border. To stop Socialist tyranny. To save America.
BIDEN’S YEAR OF CRISIS:
An Economic Crisis: Inflation is taxation, and it has gone up every month of Biden's presidency. Now, Americans are paying more for just about everything.
  • Last year, Biden’s Economic Crisis cost the average worker nearly two paychecks and cost the average family $3,500.
  • Inflation has increased every month of Joe Biden’s presidency.
  • Real wages have decreased under Biden 8 out of 11 months since his first full month in office.
  • The December jobs report was the worst of Joe Biden’s presidency with only 199,000 jobs being added.
An Energy Crisis: Since taking office, Biden has enacted an anti-energy agenda that has caused energy prices to skyrocket.
  • The national average for a gallon of gas reached $3.28 per gallon in December 2021, with a total rise of 49.6% for the year.
  • Americans are now paying 49.6% more for gas.
  • This is the most Americans have paid at the pump since the Obama-Biden Administration.
  • Home heating costs are projected to rise an average of 30% for American households heating their homes with natural gas this winter and 54% for those using propane.
A Border Crisis: Border security is national security, and because of Biden and Congressional Democrats’ open-border policies, every state is a border state.
  • Since Biden took office, over 1.8 MILLION illegal immigrants have been apprehended at our southern border.
  • The number of illegal crossings at the border has risen at a faster rate under Biden than at any time in recent history.
  • Out of 104,171 migrants issued Notices to Report by ICE between the end of March and the end of August 2021, 47,705 failed to report within that timeframe.
  • An unthinkable amount of fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances are coming across our border. Under President Biden’s watch, more pounds of fentanyl were seized at the southern border in FY2021 than in the previous two years combined.
An Education Crisis: Biden promised to work to re-open schools in his first 100 days, but his administration secretly worked with teacher union bosses to keep schools closed and label concerned parents as “domestic terrorists.”
  • Under Biden’s failed leadership, remote learning for many kids is becoming a new normal.
  • By forcing many students to stay in online school longer than needed, the Biden Administration hurt low-income students the most.
  • The Biden Administration reportedly "solicited the much-criticized letter from the National School Boards Association (NSBA)" that compared concerned parents to "domestic terrorists" in September.
  • Concerned parents are NOT domestic terrorists.
  • Parents are right to be concerned about their kids being taught radical ideologies or exposed to inappropriate instructional materials – parents should be engaged.
  • Instead of advocating for school choice and parental rights, the Biden Administration wants to take complete control of our children’s education.
A Crime Crisis: Following a year of defunding the police rhetoric from President Biden and Congressional democrats, over a dozen major U.S. cities had record high homicide rates in 2021.
A Covid Crisis: Although Biden promised to “shut down” the virus, he FAILED to lead and left many Americans struggling to find tests and many schools still closed.
  • Biden’s failed leadership has resulted in the United States having the highest daily tally of new COVID-19 cases of any country in the world.
  • This month, the U.S. broke the record for most Covid hospitalizations at over 132,000.
  • More Americans died from COVID-19 in 2021 than in 2020.
  • Biden and Biden alone is to blame for the COVID-19 testing shortage that America is facing.
A National Security Crisis: Biden has been weak on the world stage. He has been unable to stand up to our foreign adversaries or with our allies in times of need. Because of Biden's weakness, our adversaries in Beijing, Tehran, and Moscow are stronger today.
  • Biden is to blame for the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan. No one else.
  • Biden showed he is incapable of standing up to Putin and instead, is building a pipeline for him. Now, Russia is emboldened because of Biden’s failed leadership.
  • President Biden and his administration have proven that they will not hold Communist China accountable for its lack of transparency and mishandling of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Watch my remarks on the House floor about Biden's first year below.

March for Life

Picture
The right to life is the foundation upon which all other rights are built - that's why the tragedy of abortion is the greatest human rights issue of our day, and why I'm proud to have earned an A+ rating on Susan B. Anthony List's  pro-life scorecard.
Many conveniently forget that America’s founding and its Constitution began with the Declaration of Independence, which adopted ancient principles in its opening paragraphs. The very first of these confirm that sound government should be based on self-evident, truths so obvious, so rational, and so morally sound that their authenticity is beyond reasonable dispute. And that equal station of mankind here on earth is a cosmic reality, an obvious and inherent aspect of the law of nature and of nature's God, who’s 5th commandment is clear: "Thou shall not kill."
Elected and appointed officials have an obligation to uphold the Constitution, but more importantly, as children of God, to do HIS will. We must fight to make Hyde permanent.  The staggering scale of abortion in America not only reflect a decline in our morality and a rejection of GOD's word, but evinces alarmingly the erosion of our Constitution and its founding principles.  Psalm 33:12 says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD." If we are to preserve all that is great about this exceptional nation, we must serve HIM, and keep fighting until every human life is protected under the law.

This Week's Poll Question

Friends,

The Supreme Court blocked the Biden administration from enforcing a vaccine-or testing mandate for large employers.
But in a modest victory for President Biden, the court allowed a more limited mandate requiring health care workers at facilities receiving federal money to be vaccinated.
The vote in the employer mandate case was 6 to 3, with the liberal justices in dissent. The vote in the health care case was 5 to 4, with Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh joining the liberal justices to form a majority.
But I want to hear from you!

Do you agree with the Supreme Court's decision allowing a more limited mandate requiring health care workers at facilities receiving federal money to be vaccinated?

Leadership in Space

Picture
This week I introduced H.R. 6391, the U.S. Leadership in Space Act of 2021.
“We are at a critical juncture in our nation’s history. It is important that Congress does the job it was intended to do: authorize, and then subsequently fund, critical government programs. Especially those that strengthen national security and scientific discovery.

Space is an important domain for several reasons. As any military leader will tell you, whoever occupies the high ground has the strategic advantage. Continued inaction by Congress to adequately address the growing threats posed by an expanding uncontrolled debris field in earth’s orbit; the irresponsible and reckless anti-satellite missile tests by Russia that recently endangered the lives of astronauts (and cosmonauts) aboard the International Space Station (ISS); and the years of intellectual property theft, critical supply chain control, and other nefarious practices by China, require that Congress and this Administration come together to pass meaningful legislation that will ensure continued American preeminence in space.

This legislation is not a replacement for a full NASA authorization bill, because that critical task is the duty of the entire Science Committee here in the House. This bill jumpstarts that long-overdue conversation and calls on the National Space Council to report on foreign threats to the U.S. Commercial Space sector, and recommend actions the Congress can take to protect and promote its success.

Additionally, this legislation would establish Johnson Space Center (JSC) as the Artemis program management office. Since its creation in 1961, JSC remains NASA’s lead center for human spaceflight, serving as the global hub for managing and integrating complex activities associated with keeping astronauts alive and working in space. JSC not only led this charge to the Moon during the Apollo missions, but also subsequently served as the location for the Space Shuttle, ISS, Constellation, Orion, and Gateway programs.

Important to U.S. leadership in a future commercial low-earth orbit (LEO) market, and in preparation for the nation’s deep space exploration activities and scientific endeavors, my bill extends ISS operations to 2030 and ensures that no gap exists in U.S. access to LEO, while also allowing for a seamless transition from government-owned and operated platforms to a commercial successor. Further, my bill instructs NASA to pursue two or more spacesuit design-and-development agreements with industry, understanding that competition is the driver of innovation and lower costs over time.

Eventually, when the Space Station is safely retired at the end of its operational life, the first-ever privately funded commercial station will have operated for years alongside the ISS, expanding capabilities for scientific discovery and commercial activities for the U.S. and our allies, while allowing NASA to focus its attention and resources toward the Moon, Mars, and beyond. I am proud to introduce this critical bill once again, and I hope my colleagues on both sides of the aisle will agree to act now to secure our collective future in space.

Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP) supports the extension of the International Space Station (ISS) operations to 2030 included in Congressman Weber’s bill, the U.S. Leadership in Space Act of 2021 (H.R. 6391). ISS is important for scientific discovery and will continue to be crucial to commercial development in low-Earth orbit. BAHEP also supports designating Johnson Space Center (JSC) as the Artemis program management office for the coming manned missions to the moon and beyond. JSC has a long history and unique skillset when it comes to all components of human spaceflight and mission ops,” said Bob Mitchell, President of Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership.

Parents are NOT Domestic Terrorists

President Biden’s Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona, LIED to the American people when he denied requesting a letter from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) that compared concerned parents to "domestic terrorists" in September during an interview with “CBS Mornings,” on Wednesday.

“We didn't ask for that letter. We didn't…No. Specifically with that letter, we had no -- we didn't request that, there was no involvement in that,” Cardona told “CBS Mornings.”

This is a flat-out LIE.

On Tuesday, Fox News reported Secretary Cardona in fact “solicited the much-criticized letter from the NSBA that compared protesting parents to domestic terrorists, according to an email exchange reviewed by Fox News."

Previous emails already revealed that the NSBA coordinated with Biden's White House and the Department of Justice for weeks about their letter's content before publicly sending it.

Yesterday’s report and Secretary Cardon
a’s bold lie this morning is why he must immediately testify before Congress about the letter he solicited that labeled parents as "domestic terrorists."

THE DEMOCRATS ATTACK ON CONCERNED PARENTS FAILED:

  • Concerned parents are NOT domestic terrorists.
  • Education is a winning issue for Republicans.
    • Republicans are working to protect parental rights and expand school choice, not empower the Federal Government.
  • Instead of advocating for school choice and parental rights, the Biden Administration wants to take complete control of our children’s education.
  • Parents are right to be concerned about their kids being taught radical ideologies or exposed to inappropriate instructional materials – parents should be engaged.
  • The Democrats’ Far-Left reconciliation bill would take away the rights of parents and give authority to Democrats in Washington.
    • It would give the Biden administration complete control to approve the early childhood education standards and limits parents’ choice in their children’s education.
    • The Democrats’ child care proposal would SPIKE prices for middle-class families by $13,000.
    • This legislation is a ploy by Democrats to indoctrinate America’s youth with their Far-Left Socialist ideas from the start of their educational process until its conclusion.

This is why I joined 40 of my colleagues in sending a letter to President Biden demanding the termination of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona. Parents ARE the primary stakeholders in their child's education, not the radical Democrats, federal government, or failed teachers unions. Secretary Cardona’s lie this morning shows the Biden Administration is not prepared to answer to concerned parents on why the Biden Administration thinks they are "domestic terrorists."

Inflation, Energy and the Supply Chain Crisis

Picture
Picture
This year started with the worst jobs report of Joe Biden’s presidency and Americans paying more for just about everything while making less because of skyrocketing inflation.

In short, America is facing an economic crisis fueled by President Biden and House Democrats’ Far-Left Socialist agenda and out-of-control government spending.

Given the state of our economy, it’s not surprising that a recent survey by the Associated Press found that 68% of respondents said the economy was “a top 2022 concern,” making it the top overall concern in the survey.

BIDEN’S ECONOMIC CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS:

  • The December jobs report was the worst of Joe Biden’s presidency with only 199,000 jobs being added.
  • The labor force participation rates decreased for the following demographics:
    • African American men 20 and older
    • African American teenagers
    • Asian Americans
    • Hispanic or Latino Americans
  • The number of persons not in the labor force who currently want a job was little changed at 5.7 million in December.
  • The weaker than expected December jobs report comes at a time when inflation is still skyrocketing.
  • Inflation is a tax on all Americans, and it has gone up every month of Biden’s presidency.
  • Americans are paying more for just about everything because of inflation:
    • Gasoline is UP 58.1%
    • Car and truck rentals are UP 37.2%
    • Propane, kerosene, and firewood are UP 34.3%
    • Energy is UP 33.3%
    • Bacon and related products are UP 21.0%
    • Beef and veal are UP 20.9%
    • Pork is UP 16.8%
    • Fresh fish and seafood is UP 10.6%
    • Ham is UP 10.7%
    • Chicken is UP 9.2%
    • Eggs are UP 8.0%
    • Coffee is UP 7.5%
  • Real wages have decreased under Biden 8 out of the ten months since his first full month in office.
Make no mistake about it: Biden and House Democrats’ Far-Left Socialist agenda and out-of-control government spending are the reason America is in the midst of an economic crisis.

Picture
Since taking office, President Biden has repeatedly enacted an anti-energy agenda that has caused U.S. energy prices to skyrocket while threatening American national security.

This week, the Biden White House sent top officials to lobby Senate Democrats against Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) legislation, which would sanction Russian President Vladimir Putin's Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

Let that sink in: The President of the United States is now lobbying on behalf of Russian interests.

BIDEN'S ENERGY CRISIS:
  • Biden is building pipelines for Putin but not Americans.
  • On President Biden's first day in office, he killed over 11,000 American jobs, which were created by the Keystone Pipeline.
    • The Keystone XL oil pipeline project developer announced that they were abandoning the project, which would have created thousands of high-paying American jobs following President Biden's decision to revoke a key permit for the pipeline.
  • Biden is incapable of standing up to Putin and instead is building a pipeline for him while destroying American energy jobs.
    • The Biden administration waived sanctions on the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline into Germany in May, days before announcing his summit with Putin.
  • A five-year extension on the New START treaty with no pre-conditions, surrendering U.S. leverage to revise the treaty.
  • The Biden administration waived sanctions on the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline into Germany last May, days before announcing his summit with Putin, giving Putin a MAJOR victory.

Now grocery shoppers across the country are encountering barren shelves and struggling to feed their families. This is what you get when you combine reckless fiscal policy, a war on energy, and suppression of the workforce - a supply chain crisis, exorbitant inflation, and food shortages.

Election Integrity

Picture
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is planning on using a legislative gimmick in order to bring forward the Democrats' "voting rights" legislation in the coming days.
According to Politico:
"The House will imminently pass a bill containing both sweeping federal elections reform and beefed up Voting Right Act provisions. Because the bill will be sent to the Senate as a "message" from the House, it will not be subject to an initial filibuster by the GOP and will be debated on the floor. Instead, the Senate will confront its raging debate over the filibuster when Majority Leader Schumer moves to shut down debate."
Make no mistake about it:
The Democrats' "voting rights" legislation is nothing more than an attempt to nationalize elections to maintain power. If enacted, it will destroy our institutions and enable Speaker Nancy Pelosi to take over all elections throughout the country.
Democrats' crying foul at the use of the filibuster is the height of hypocrisy as Schumer himself has voted OVER 500 times to sustain a filibuster during his 23 years in the Senate. In 2020, Democrats used the filibuster 327 times alone.
HERE ARE THE FACTS:
  • The Democrats' "voting rights" legislation would:
    • Give BILLIONS of public dollars to campaigns. Speaker Pelosi would receive up to $22.7 MILLION in public dollars for her reelection campaign, and Senate Majority Leader Schumer would receive up to $44.1 for his reelection campaign.
    • Transform the office of the U.S. Attorney General into an unelected, unaccountable "Elections Czar" with the power to change state elections law and circumvent state constitutional processes.
    • Force states to legalize ballot harvesting.
    • Make it harder for states to maintain their voter lists.
    • Disregard state voter identification laws and provisional ballot rules.
    • Imposes liberal California voting methods on every state.
    • Allow the IRS to investigate and consider the political and policy persuasions of organizations before granting tax-exempt status.
  • 2020 saw the highest turnout in 120 years and, according to Pew, 94% say it's easy to vote. There is clearly no widespread "voter suppression" issue in this country.
DEMOCRATS FILIBUSTER HYPOCRISY:
  • In 2017, 32 Democrat senators signed a letter urging the Senate leadership to preserve the filibuster including Vice President Kamala Harris
  • The filibuster is the only reason millions of Americans have a voice in the current government.
  • Democrats used the filibuster 327 times in 2020 alone.
  • For decades, Joe Biden stood against eliminating the filibuster say it would have drastic consequences:
    • In 2020, during an interview with New York Times editorial board, Biden said he did not support abolishing the legislative filibuster.
    • In 2019, Biden told reporters that ending the filibuster was “a very dangerous thing to do” adding that it had been used by Democrats “the whole time” Republicans were in power.
    • In 2005, Biden said that ending the
