I would ride my bike to Bill Moodys drive in grocery just to drink a rainbow slush! We never closed our garage doors or locked our doors. Fireflies lit up the dark nights and holding hands was a thrill. I would hike for miles through all the prairie and every pool of water or creek had numerous variety of snakes. Musk turtles and mud turtles were common. The Busy Bee was the most popular place on most nights. There was no police but the volunteer fire dept was strong !! People knew how to get anywhere and to anyone’s house without street signs or gps. I fell in love with a unique blonde girl that moved from the big city to our small town. I never told her how I felt. Hear this story and many others on Sunday the twenty first at three. Doug Hiser intimate evening in the HAAK wine cellar.
