National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day Means Half-Price Adoptions at
Animal Resource Center
ARC Celebrating the National Observance on Saturday, April 28
GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas – Searching for the newest addition to your family? Look no further
than the Galveston County Animal Resource Center (ARC), which will offer half-price adoptions
Saturday, April 28 in honor of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day.
The ARC adoption fee covers spay or neuter, rabies vaccination and a microchip. These services
can costs hundreds of dollars when purchased separately outside the shelter.
“And, if you adopt this Saturday in honor of Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, you save even more,” said
Amber Adams, ARC manager. “There are a lot of reasons why thousands of people come to ARC
to find their furbabies each year. The pure value of having the spay or neuter, rabies vaccination
and microchip all included in the adoption process is one of those reasons.”
Since the national observance falls on a day when ARC is closed, the shelter will recognize the
day on Saturday, April 28 with half-priced adoption fees of just $42.50 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The special
rate is available to anyone, regardless of city of residency.
ARC also offers other selected pets at an adoption rate of $20 every day thanks to the charitable
Boot Kikkers Bingo fund. Adoption fees of long-term pets can be waived with the use of the
Sponsor A Heart fund, while funds last.
“It takes just one look into little precious eyes to fall in love and find your new family member,”
Adams said. “You’re making a lifelong commitment when you adopt. If you are ready to add a
new pet to your family, ARC has great animals looking for their forever home.”
National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day was created as a way to raise awareness for thousands of pets that are waiting for, and needing, adoption from the shelters.
Adams offered a few tips when it comes to adopting a new pet:

Spend time getting to know some of ARC’s wonderful, adoptable animals

Once you’ve found the animal you think is the perfect fit for you or your family,
meet with an adoption counselor to make sure the pet fits your lifestyle and
preference Sign an adoption contract

It is good to know that there are shelters like yours who care for animal welfare. I also rescued one Yorkshire 5 month old puppy roaming around the street covered with dirt and his fur was tangled already. I named him Woody because I found him on Fernwood street. I already have a 6 year old, Shih Tzu and they go along very well. I'm glad I was able to save him before he died due to hunger or being hit by vehicles.
