Essential is one of the big buzzwords during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Ask three people and get a dozen opinions on what is truly essential! Part of the challenges of this “challenging time” is the variety of sources, experts, news reports and opinions to which we are supposed to listen. Believers turn to God’s Word for our essentials! It’s our ONE SOURCE that’s written directly to and for us to survive good and/or challenging times! I’m thankful for His “playbook” for us and what it says about the importance, even essentialness, of community.
God created us for community! To commune with Him AND with each other. I love this passage from last Sunday’s sermon!
“Since God had planned something better for us
so that only together with us
would they be made perfect.”
A Safe Place - I ran into one of our members last week who hadn’t attended worship in person until just recently. He said our church was the safest place he and his wife had been – more so than the store or any other public place. Last Sunday I showed someone around after church and they first said they’d seen my video but that videos didn’t do justice for how much room is here! We’ve got the room for social distancing and growth! I’m convinced that God knew we would need it. Community is essential! Come worship with us!
Leona Mitchell has been one of our office assistants since 1997! Wednesday, she celebrated 23 years and Tuesday, the 25th, she will celebrate retirement! Sunday, August 23, we will recognize her in the worship services, and you are encouraged to bring a card or other expression of congratulations. We appreciate Leona and her 23 years of faithfulness and working through all the changes in staff, responsibilities and locations! Happy retirement and next chapter of life Leona!
We also want to announce that Diana Breedlove has accepted the soon-to-be vacant position Leona is leaving and is training now to absorb that 23+ years of experience! Welcome Diana!
