We have two great themes this month to help inspire kids to
be more like Jesus every day. Our elementary students,
1st – 6th grade, are focusing on one of the fruit of the Spirit, patience. Through their monthly scripture of Psalm 27:14, kids will be encouraged to be strong and not lose hope while patiently waiting on the Lord. We have lots of fun activities planned around the theme of baking this month because when you’re baking, you also have to exercise a lot of patience.
Four great stories of the Bible that help us learn more about patience:
• Simeon Waits for the Messiah (Luke 2:25-35)
• Golden Calf (Exodus 32:1-35)
• Esau’s Impatience (Genesis 25:24-34)
• Palm Sunday (Matthew 21:1-11)
Preschoolers also love to learn, and they love to share with you what they can do! This month our preschoolers are learning that they can love like Jesus, which is also a fruit of the Spirit. They can love like Jesus by sharing their toys and being a good friend. They will be committing to memory John 15:12, “Love each other as I have loved you.”
In Galatians 5, Paul reminds us that we are to live by the Spirit, not by flesh. No matter your age, I think we can all be reminded often of the fruit of the Spirit and to seek these fruit in our daily lives. I encourage you to choose daily to not give in to the desires of the flesh but instead choose to be led by the Spirit of God.
“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”
