From Our Pastor, Robert Miller:
Exciting Times
First Baptist Church is entering an exciting time! Getting a new pastor can be a wonderful time for a restart in the direction of a church. My focus for almost my entire ministry has been on changing locations, and it was a God-sized task that required most of my energy. The new pastor will be able to focus the church on ministries and missions. Our church is in an excellent position for this to happen. We have a beautiful building and a more beautiful fellowship. Also, I am hoping the co-vid crisis will be winding down when a new pastor takes over.
I chose to stay until the church could find another pastor so that the church would not lose too much momentum before a new one could get on the field. In every church I have served, I have done a study on attendance and giving for the church's entire history. Every church, including FBC Texas City, went down in attendance and giving during the interims. I hope that we can keep momentum going so that the new pastor can hit the ground running. Unfortunately, our attendance and giving are not where we expected. I am not sure whether my retiring or covid is more to blame. Please keep coming and giving during this time. It is necessary to step up our game rather than go backward. I believe that God led me to retire, and I am also confident that God has the right person to lead our church in the future.
Please join me in committing to attend regularly, give faithfully, and look enthusiastically to our church’s future! Blessings on you!
