Had a fun time!!! BLESSINGS & FAVOR TO ALL!!! Christmas Movie Reviews · REVIEW: A Veteran’s Christmas - Hallmark Channel We had a request from a follower to review this older movie. (2018) Grace Garland (Eloise Mumford), a US Veteran, comes back home from Afganistan. She struggles to stay away from her K9 partner (who she named ‘Christmas’) and must rediscover the meaning of Christmas. Reading the synopsis, we knew we would need tissues on hand! Grace meets Joey after having a car accident on the way from the Army Base after returning home from her second tour in Afghanistan and being discharged from the Marines. Grace agrees to stay in Joey’s guest cottage while her car is getting fixed. She is introduced around town by Joey including attending Church with him where he needs to rescue her from his family. As Grace encounters the various townspeople, she struggles to come to grips with fitting back into civilian life and as Grace shares some of her stories from war, it’s easy to see why. Meanwhile, we discover that Joey is the local judge and beloved by the town for his fairness and compassion. Our two lead characters are a perfect pairing with clear chemistry from the outset. The supporting cast are excellent also, and the entire town sets the perfect backdrop for this beautiful story. Rather than read more from us about this movie, we recommend you just sit back and enjoy this one. Allow yourself to be swept up in this near-perfect story. The ending will very likely have you in tears also so be prepared! 10 Christmas Trees out of 10. The King of Solar Screens We are Home to the $55ea for any size, shape, or color Solar Screen! · REVIEW: Heaven Down Here - Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Four disparate people find themselves stranded in the local Rocco’s diner on Christmas Eve when a snowstorm hits the town closing all the roads. Imani (Krystal Joy Brown) is a widowed mother of two who’s having trouble making ends meet and reluctantly agrees to work the Christmas Eve shift, where she clashes with her boss Dan (Richard Harmon), who doesn’t exactly embody the Christmas spirit. They are joined by local Pastor, Felix (Juan Riedinger) desperately trying to secure food donations to feed parishioners in need. Meanwhile, his faith is challenged by his broken relationship with his son. Finally Clara (Tina Lifford), a hospice nurse working for a rude and stubborn patient Nancy (Phylicia Rashad) and whose daughter is moving away, which causes her to question her place in this world. Confined to the Diner because of the weather they begin to learn about each other and together rediscover the Christmas spirit. From the outset we are introduced to multiple storylines of people dealing with difficult life situations. It’s not immediately clear where all of these are going and no storyline takes the lead over the others. It was a little hard to follow at first (probably exacerbated by this being our second review of the night so we started it quite late when we were tired. Once the main characters all converged at the Diner, it all started to make sense. This is a tale of discovery and being in the moment to make lemons out of lemonade. Finding themselves trapped, each finds themselves learning and relying on each other to lift their down-trodden spirits. In the end, this is a surprisingly uplifting move and a definite departure from the Hallmark RomCom. There’s not a lingering look, a flirtatious montage, or climactic kiss to be seen. Instead, it drew some parallels to ‘Holiday Road’ as perfect strangers are brought together by circumstance, bond, and band together in times of struggle and need. It’s quite a few shades darker than normal Hallmark fare, but the characters are very relatable, and we did find ourselves caring for their individual plights. This movie relies on the characters to carry it as the bulk of the action takes place in a single location over the course of a single Christmas Eve night. There’s a wild plot twist come Christmas morning, and a stellar and emotional ending. This movie ended with a far higher rating than it began with. Stick with this one and we think you will be rewarded and blessed by this one. 7 and a half Christmas Trees out of 10. Christmas Movie Reviews
· REVIEW: The Secret Gift of Christmas- Hallmark Channel Bonnie (Meghan Ory), is a personal shopper who helps Patrick (Christopher Russel) her widowed client, reconnect with his young daughter. Though their ideas of shopping couldn't be more different, she's determined to get them everything on their wish list. For the first 20 minutes we thought Bonnie came off loud, annoying, and unnecessarily over the top. Meeting Patrick, we thought ‘what an odd couple’. And we just could not see these two ever realistically being interested in each other. Then, slowly, as the movie progressed, she seemed to settle down and became more of a realistic person and a realistic possibility for Patrick. The turning point seemed to be when ahe bonded with Patrick’s daughter. There are some sweet scenes as the two get to know each other, and some we would rather they had left out (see Karaoke scene - Yikes!) The ride is bumpier than most and for good reasons which adds a layer of depth often missing. This movie wasn’t great, but also wasn’t horrible. It was just… meh. We normally like Christopher Russell but felt he wasn’t given a ton of stuff to work with in this one. 5 Christmas Tress out of 10. Just like we said. Meh. |
