Isaiah 117 House Brazoria TXHey, CPS Team, LifePoint Church thinks you're all that and a bag of chips!
And we agree! We are so thankful for the Pekar/Eapen Life Group at LifePoint for coming alongside us this month to show love to our friends at CPS! We've also had ongoing efforts doing some cleaning and homelike additions to our local CPS office break rooms! Thank you so much to the volunteers who gave a Saturday afternoon to deep clean the Pearland break room! And to everyone who has donated to provide coffee stations and other amenities. Lavish love, that's our jam! #isaiah117housebrazoriacounty First Baptist Church of Texas City
From Our Worship Pastor, John Talley: Mom’s Legacy Mother’s Day was last Sunday. People post things about their moms on all the “socials.” This will be my “social” contribution. Mom lived to be 93. She was both a saint and a rock star! My memories of mom include: *Being a stay-at-home mom before we were in school, teaching us about God (mostly through her actions) and teaching us the alphabet. *Working a garden then laying in the bed in traction because of a bad back, then getting up the next day and doing it again. *Always having a homemade, from scratch, dinner (she was indeed a rockstar cook!), with dessert every night. *Telling me when my grades weren’t great that if it’s the best I can do, then that’s all she and dad ask. *Being super involved in church: singing in the choir (daddy sang bass, momma sang alto…), teaching different kid’s classes, helping with kid’s choirs, etc. *Driving a school bus. *She loved music. After dad died, she moved to be near my sister and brother-in-law and joined their church. I called her almost every night and when we talked about church, she would tell me she wished her church did more music like we did. Was she biased? Of course. But she loved old and new songs of praise to God. *She had complications after a surgical procedure that landed her in the hospital for months. She would share Christ with all who tended to her; and on her birthday, asked my sister to bring a cake to celebrate the people who were taking care of her. *She moved to an assisted living facility the last few years of her life. She would say often that it was her calling to help welcome new people there and get some of the withdrawn residence to be involved in games, social activities, etc. *When we would go stay with her, we’d hear her singing songs of praise to God before going to sleep. I’m thankful for both of my parents, the legacy they left and the things they taught us, mostly by example. CASA of Galveston County
· Meet Marta and her beautiful family who, for the past 2 years has been kind enough to host a book drive with PaperPie (formerly known as Usborne Books and More) to get books into the hands of CASA kiddos. This year, Marta raised over $1600 which PaperPie matched and we are the receivers of over $2500 of books! We are so thankful! A little bit about Marta, she is an Autism Mom, raising two kiddos on the autism spectrum. She is passionate about helping society better understand autism and bringing about acceptance as well as encouraging families impacted by autism and helping provide resources. She is a Brand Partner with PaperPie and she wants to share what she's learned and help others in their journey to teach their children. Marta has a special place in her heart for children in Foster Care because she has 8 nieces and nephews that were adopted from the foster care system. All of the children are thriving and she's seen what a difference has been made in their lives. Marta chose to support CASA with a book drive in efforts to provide local children in foster care…some of whom had to leave everything behind…with books they can keep and have ownership over. Every Child Has A Chance - it's YOU! We are so thankful to our partners! HIS Ministries Santa Fe Tx
· The Community Support Alliance is so grateful for Tanger Outlets, Auntie Anne's Pretzels Tanger Outlets, Robbie Nelson and Greg Gardner - State Farm Agent for making a huge blessing and impact for the girls in our community. You helped create an experience our kids will remember forever. I will never forget the little girl that ran up, excited to Education Foundation Gina exclaiming with a big smile, “I know you from school!” Gina replying “Hi! I know you too!” Or the young lady who our social worker helped out with prom tickets and attire. She had a huge smile and a hug ready for Ms. Lois Jones for all the memories she helped create. I saw a set of girls standing shyly and quietly by their mom, when they all turned to see Adrianna Ricard smile and they ran to her for a hug, to thank her and tell her about all the things they got! Or the young lady who explained to Daryl's Place Foundation Shardale that she was singing for the memorial this week, and didn’t have a proper dress. She was showing off what she picked out. Saying she felt so much more confident in knowing that she has the new fashion! There were countless families specifically mentioned that Dayspring Taylor and Meredith Drake greeted them with the warm welcome, and assisted them finding exactly what they wanted making them new friends. That church and family works hard and loves even more! Thank you to all the volunteers, board members and community partners for coming together as we always do! These are just some of the stories, memories and impact created that night. We are blessed and humbled, not just to serve the community with partners such as you all, but knowing we are working in unity to build esteem, create relationships by offering a hand up, not a hand out. #ServiceMatters We cannot thank Marta Brain and Paper Pie books for doing this book drive for CASA kiddos!5/12/2023 CASA of Galveston County

· CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Galveston County is honored to be the recipient of a $5000 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation. The purpose of the grant is to create personal portfolios that include personal documents (social security cards, birth certificate), educational records and other pertinent documents for youth as they exit care. This grant will continue to build upon CASA’s grant from the Texas bar Foundation which allows CASA to educate youth on their rights and help ready them for independent living. CASA volunteers provide effective guardian ad litem services and are a consistent presence in a child’s life during their time in foster care, positively impacting the children and families served. CASA of Galveston County is grateful to be a partner alongside the Texas Bar Foundation to promote justice for children and families through our best interest advocacy. Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $25 million in grants to law-related programs. · Austin, TX · Artist brings awareness to veteran's issues through a visual arts perspective to honor her late father at the Texas Capitol on Thursday, April 27th at noon in the Rotunda. -------------------- Austin, Texas: Our Veterans continue to face homelessness, poverty, unemployment, mental trauma, substance abuse and the most daunting of all – suicide. Twenty-two (22) Veterans a day take their own life. This number alone is alarming. A Texas nonprofit founded by local Veterans has made it their mission to create opportunities to honor local Veterans while bringing awareness to the issues they face. The executive board, composed of a majority of service-connected disabled Veterans, knows all too well the numerous challenges of transitioning from warrior to civilian. The group of local leaders work hard to think outside the box and get creative with their programming. A notable photographer approached them 18 months ago with a remarkable idea to shed light on their organization’s mission through a visual arts perspective. The journey will lead them to the Texas Capitol on Thursday, April 27th. “This event is the first of its kind and the creativity is off the charts. We are honored to collaborate with such a passionate individual wanting to elevate Veterans issues with her unique talent and vision,” said Fidencio Leija, President and Founder of Operation Honor Our Local Veterans. The 2023 Tribute: Honoring All U.S. Veterans Past & Present by Visual Arts Photographer Renee Rodriguez will feature a string quartet Cello Vida and work by the Galveston Arts Center. The Tribute will be held in the Main Rotunda of the Texas Capitol from noon to 1 PM on Thursday, April 27th. The event is open to the public and the organization extends a cordial invitation to all veterans and their families. “My father was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He returned home and was active in the VFW Post 880 in Galveston, Texas. Dad passed from Agent Orange, and I witnessed firsthand the debilitating effect of it. A week prior to my dad’s passing on Father’s Day, I held his hand and promised to honor all Veterans in his memory at my next event at the Texas Capitol. My dad captured peace within chaos during active duty with this camera and today I carry on his legacy,” said Renee Rodriguez, Visual Arts Ambassador of Operation Honor Our Local Veterans. ### CASA of Galveston CountyCatching finger hearts in the wild!
