For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. (Romans 6:12-14 ESV) Sometimes I want to get Margie a gift just because I want to; she has been such an important part of my life and I want to demonstrate my love for her in ways that let her know she is special. But that is what people who are in love do, they show honor, respect, and affection for the person who they love. I know in my case I can never repay Margie for all she has been in my life, but I can do things to let her know that I know what she means to me. In a way, I think this is what Paul is talking about here. Think about it; what has God done, what has He changed in us, can we ever truly express the depths of our thanksgiving for the transformation that He brings into life? We have an opportunity to honor Him by giving Him the only thing that really matters, us. If we are to offer a gift to God, what do we want to offer? I hope it is our very best, and that is in our desire for righteousness not unrighteousness; as representatives of His life not as those who are dying in sin; as people who are recipients of grace not as those who have rejected it. Out of love for God, let us offer him our lives, our attitudes and our actions. I think this would be a pleasing gift to the one we love. Pastor Tim Franklin  Steve McKenzie
