Amber: Building a Business on Faith, Grit, and Relentless Integrity Some stories don’t begin in boardrooms or corner offices. Some begin in moments of rebuilding — when resilience is learned the hard way and purpose is forged through perseverance. Amber’s journey is one of those stories. As a teenager, Amber’s life took an unexpected turn when she entered rehab — a chapter that could have defined her forever in the eyes of others. At one point, she was viewed as incapable. But Amber refused to let her past dictate her future. Instead, she rebuilt her life step by step, driven by faith, focus, and an unshakable belief that growth is always possible. Her professional path began humbly in telemarketing, followed by years in advertising sales. Eventually, her curiosity and drive led her into the power washing industry, where she sold commercial and industrial soaps and equipment before ultimately building her own mobile power washing business. Across nearly two decades in sales, Amber learned one foundational truth: relationships matter more than transactions. “I spent relentless hours researching and studying my craft,” she shares. “Trust is built through knowledge, consistency, and showing up.” That mindset — paired with faith, persistence, and tireless effort — shaped the businesswoman she is today. Standing Strong in Male-Dominated Industries Working in industries traditionally dominated by men brought its own challenges, especially early on. Amber recalls being overlooked or underestimated, including moments when customers asked to “put a man on the phone.” Instead of being discouraged, she chose excellence. More than once, those same customers called back days later — specifically asking for Amber — after realizing she was the one who truly understood their needs. “At some point,” she says, “being a man or a woman didn’t matter. What mattered was proficiency.” Her response to adversity wasn’t defensiveness — it was mastery. By outworking expectations and outlearning the competition, Amber built credibility that spoke louder than assumptions ever could. The Moment That Changed Everything Two years ago, Amber faced one of the most defining moments of her life. Burned out and overwhelmed, she came close to walking away entirely — even considering disability. Instead, she made a decision that changed everything. “I told myself I would give it one last, full effort.” She leaned into her faith, stayed disciplined, and gave everything she had — even while navigating personal challenges that made each day harder than the last. What followed was nothing short of transformational. Her business doubled that year. Then doubled again. And it’s on track to do so once more. “That season taught me that when I can’t do it on my own, God can — and He did,” Amber reflects. “Once I realized I could run a company when I was at my worst, I became excited to see what I could do at my best. And the best is yet to come.” Leading with Values That Last Integrity, accountability, and faith guide every decision Amber makes. She believes deeply in doing the right thing — even when there’s no immediate reward. Every client is treated with care, intention, and respect, because trust is the true foundation of long-term success. Her leadership style is fueled by persistence and high energy — especially when she’s on a mission. But at its core, it’s grounded in consistency, service, and reliability. “Strong leadership starts with showing up and keeping your word,” she says. “When people know they can rely on you, growth and success follow naturally.” Redefining Success For Amber, success has little to do with titles or short-term wins. Instead, she measures it by trust, longevity, and balance. Long-term client relationships. A strong reputation. The ability to be present for her family — especially her daughter. These are the markers that matter most. “Success is a lot like marketing,” she explains. “You don’t always see the results immediately, but over time, the numbers reveal the impact. It’s a progressive cycle, not something that happens overnight.” Inspiring the Next Generation Amber hopes her journey shows future generations — especially her daughter — that obstacles do not define you. How you respond does. She wants young women to see that consistency, faith, and hard work still matter. That leadership doesn’t require perfection — it requires accountability, humility, and commitment. And that true inspiration doesn’t come from showing off success, but from showing responsibility, growth, and integrity. “Showing off wealth doesn’t inspire,” she says. “Showing accountability does.” A Distinguished Honor, A Continued Purpose Being recognized as a Distinguished Woman of Galveston County is deeply meaningful to Amber. It affirms the values she has built her life and business upon — faith, integrity, and perseverance. She credits her success to the unwavering support of her family, her team, her clients, and her community. And she views this recognition not as a finish line, but as encouragement to keep building — with purpose. Amber’s story is proof that resilience can become leadership, that faith can fuel success, and that the most powerful transformations often begin where others least expect them. And that is exactly what makes her truly distinguished. Shelly Garrido: Faith, Resilience, and the Power of Purpose Some women are shaped by privilege. Others are shaped by perseverance. Shelly Garrido belongs unmistakably to the latter—and it is precisely why her story resonates so deeply across Galveston County and beyond. Shelly’s journey to becoming the woman she is today was not paved with ease or abundance, but with hard work, forgiveness, and an unwavering faith in God. Every chapter of her life reflects resilience forged through adversity and a spirit refined by grace. Where doors once closed, perseverance opened new paths. Where hardship tried to define her, purpose rewrote the narrative. Through it all, Shelly learned that true strength is often born in struggle—and that blessings are meant to be shared. Rooted in Legacy, Guided by Faith At the heart of Shelly’s story is her grandmother—her greatest cheerleader, mentor, and inspiration. Raised during the Great Depression, her grandmother modeled a life of service, joy, and peace regardless of circumstance. That example left an indelible mark on Shelly, instilling the belief that even in the most difficult seasons, one can live with purpose and generosity. It is a legacy Shelly carries forward in everything she does. Despite experiencing profound loss, multiple traumas, and rebuilding her life more than once, Shelly refused to be defined by what she endured. Through consistency, relentless work ethic, and obedience to God, she discovered strength beyond herself. Those trials did not break her—they refined her—allowing her to rise not merely as a survivor, but as a woman committed to helping others rise as well. A Community That Feels Like Home Galveston County has played a significant role in Shelly’s personal and professional growth. Here, she found more than opportunity—she found community. Surrounded by people who value encouragement, unity, and collective success, Shelly flourished in an environment where achievement is measured not only by personal milestones, but by the ability to help others succeed. This shared spirit of service and progress has deeply influenced her leadership, reinforcing her belief that when individuals lift one another, entire communities grow stronger. Leadership Through Service and Compassion To Shelly, leadership is not about titles or recognition—it is about impact. Her work reflects a heart for service and a commitment to compassionate leadership that reaches far beyond herself. She serves on the board of The Dash Gordon Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals with special needs and disabilities. She is also the pageant director and producer of a Galveston County pageant celebrating the beautiful uniqueness and talents of young women with special needs—an initiative that embodies inclusion, dignity, and empowerment. In addition, Shelly serves as the senior producer of The Kelly Williams Show, based in Galveston County—a platform dedicated to sharing fun and impactful stories focused on individuals, businesses, and organizations creating positive change locally and worldwide. Through TKWS, Shelly helps amplify voices that matter, spotlighting stories that inspire, uplift, and connect communities. As a Certified Biblical Counselor, Christian & Mental Health Life Coach, Professional Life Coach, and Wellness Coach, Shelly empowers individuals to grow personally, spiritually, and professionally. Her guidance is rooted in proven wisdom, intentional purpose, and a deep understanding that healing and growth happen when faith and action work together. Redefining Success Earlier in her journey, success meant recognition and achievement. Today, Shelly defines success by impact. It is measured not by applause, but by lives changed. By doors opened for others. By voices amplified and hope restored. True success, she believes, is no longer about what she achieves alone—but about how many people are positively influenced along the way. A Legacy That Reaches Forward Shelly hopes her work leaves behind more than accomplishments. She hopes it leaves an example—one that teaches future generations the power of hard work, resilience, and faith working together. Hard work builds the foundation. Resilience sustains progress. Faith provides direction when the path is unclear. In difficult seasons, Shelly reminds herself that the present moment is not the final chapter. Growth often happens quietly, and perseverance today can open doors tomorrow that once seemed impossible. A Message for the Next Generation To young women with similar dreams, Shelly’s message is clear: your worth is not defined by setbacks. Failure is not a verdict—it is a lesson. Learn, grow, and rise again. Lead with compassion. Believe in collaboration over competition. And never underestimate the power of faith, consistency, and purpose aligned. Through her leadership, service, and unwavering belief in something greater than herself, Shelly Garrido continues to shape lives, strengthen community, and inspire others to endure, strive, and lead boldly. And that is what makes her truly distinguished. Crust Pizza Co. - League City
