  Thanksgiving feast for the community with food insecurity A community with food insecurity had their Thanksgiving made a little easier with a meal. Thursday (11/24/2022) afternoon, there was a Thanksgiving feast at Our Lady of Fatima in Texas City. Volunteers were prepared to feed 500 people within the two hour event. When people finished eating they were given a food bag to take home for the evening. 500 food bags were made with various canned goods and other essentials for a Thanksgiving dinner at their home. 120 turkeys were donated with 70 coming from Valero Texas City Refinery and the rest from other local donors. As a senior, some have children that are grown and do not live in the area. The food that was not served and the bags not taken went into Angel Tree baskets for children in need to take home to their families. Then wait for a response from Santa in your mailbox. The last day to drop off letters is December 14th!! 🎅🎄   The Phoenix Post-Acute The Phoenix adopted 50 seniors this year for a holiday meal with the Galveston County Food Bank. In years past the Blue Santa/Christmas with the Blue Program has relied heavily on the support from Toys for Tots. This year however, they have not received the amount of donations that have in the past which affects what they are able to provide our program. We are still in need of toys to help provide the over 400 children on our list.
