In the Beginning...The Dickinson Festival of Lights began as an idea between two neighbors, John Montgomery and Robert Morgan in 1998. Shortly after the Idea was formed, the images began to take shape and soon those images were transformed into steel objects wrapped with lights, creating some of the very displays that you see at the Festival today. The Festival began with 100,000 lights and encompassed the triangle of property where the Gazebo sits at HWY 3 and 44th Street. In 2003 the Festival was moved to Paul Hopkins Park to accommodate the growing popularity and room for new displays that were added. John and Robert's goal was to provide a family oriented event that would invoke the spirit of the holidays into people's lives. These two gentlemen left a wonderful legacy to Dickinson, a tradition that we can all be proud of and one we can hope to continue for years to come.

Rotary Club of Dickinson The Rotary Club Christmas Parade “Christmas on the Bayou” will take place on Thursday, December 8 at 6 p.m.
**If you live on Hughes Road or along Highway 3, this will affect your access to your home or business. please note the road closes at 5:45 p.m. and will not reopen until the conclusion of the parade (approximately one hour).***
Floats and participant drop offs must please be made via Hughes Road, and not Highway 3. There are two drop off circles at the staging area at McAdams Junior High. See map.
Parade floats and participants must be staged and ready by 5:30 p.m. Please arrive early if possible to get your group ready and orient your float in the proper direction. See map.
Roads will close at 5:45 p.m. sharp. Please be sure to arrive and complete drop off as early as 4:45 p.m. it will get very busy with vehicle traffic.
The parade will begin at McAdams Junior High, exit the parking lot via Benoist Drive, then turn left and head north on Highway 3 towards City Hall. Parade floats and entries will halt after City Hall on 517 and riders can be released from the floats at that time.
