Today is Kemps ridley day for #SeaTurtleWeek !
These sea turtles are found right here in our own backyard-
- They are the smallest of all sea turtle species
- As adults, they weigh ~ 100lbs
- Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles are the official state sea turtle of Texas
- They are the most critically endangered sea turtles in the world
- Unlike other sea turtle species, ridleys nest during the day, and in groups called Arribadas
