City of Galveston, Texas - Government The USS Texas (Battleship Texas) will arrive in Galveston on Wednesday, August 31, where it will undergo repairs at a local shipyard.
The World War I-era battleship has been docked in La Porte at the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site but is in need of repairs.
The USS Texas will be undergoing repairs at the Gulf Copper Dry Dock & Rig Repair on Pelican Island.
On Wednesday morning, weather permitting, it will be towed from La Porte through the Houston Ship Channel to the Galveston shipyard.
There will be opportunities for viewing from land at Seawolf Park and Pier 21 in Galveston throughout the afternoon on Wednesday.
