Galveston County Fair & Rodeo
The Galveston County Fair and Rodeo hosted a Scholarship Banquet and presented $56,845 worth of scholarships to deserving youth. The 19 recipients are students who represent different schools who will be attending college this fall. The banquet included a dinner featuring special guest speaker, Galveston County Precinct 4 Commissioner, Dr. Robin Armstrong and board of director, Albert Ramirez, served as the master of ceremonies. “Being able to support these kids as they pursue their educational goals is what our Fair is all about. These kids are our future,” said Galveston County Fair and Rodeo President, Ebbie Thurmond III. Our 2022 Galveston County Fair and Rodeo Scholarship recipients are: Caleb Addison of Friendswood High School, Shelby Blevins of Dickinson High School, Caroline Boysen of Santa Fe High School, Kylie Brown of Friendswood High School, Kelsey Bryant of Clear Springs High School, Melinda Cabe of Santa Fe High School, Royal Cumby of Santa Fe High School, Olivia Dykes of Clear Springs High School, Lane Fitzpatrick of Friendswood High School, Gabriel Gonzales of Clear Lake High School, Kaylee Higgs of Texas City High School, Riley Hrabovsky of Friendswood High School, Marrizza Kelley of Texas City High School, Canton Kempf of Santa Fe High School, Kasey Klages of Clear Lake High School, Lexie McCaskill of Santa Fe High School, Brooke McCrumb of Dickinson High School, Hannah Tucker of Santa Fe High School, and Audrey Westinghouse of Friendswood High School. The scholarships are a result of money raised by the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo and several privately funded contributions. Including the Best in the West Cook-off Team, the Cook-off Committee in-memoriam of Lew Benham, in-memoriam of Mike King, the Tibaldo Family in memory of Paul Tibaldo, the Ware family in honor of Richard Ware, in-memoriam of Sonny Sewell, and in-memoriam of Steve Williams.
