The City of Galveston’s Tree Committee is asking that all residents become aware of lethal bronzing in local palm trees.
​Palm trees on the island at risk include Canary Island date Palm, Sabal palmetto, Queen Palms and more. Symptoms of a tree being impacted by bronzing are:
• Sudden fruit drop
• Browning leaves
• Spear leaf death
• Root rot
Residents can contact a certified arborist if they notice symptoms in a tree. Infected trees must be removed and quarantine rules apply
