Today, the La Marque Police Department is grieving a tremendous loss.
With deepest sorrow, we share that Sergeant Richard Garcia passed away earlier today after a brave and courageous fight against cancer.
Sgt. Garcia was more than a dedicated officer—he was a mentor, a protector, a friend, and a true example of strength.
He served this community for over 20 years with heart, compassion, and an unwavering commitment that inspired everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.
His kindness, his leadership, and the impact he made on those around him will forever remain part of the fabric of our department.
Losing him leaves a profound emptiness in our LMPD family, one that words cannot fully express.
