Kemah Additional Traffic Enforcement Coming Your Way

Good Afternoon, Thank you for all the support you have shown the Kemah Police Department in our efforts to provide the best services to the visitors and residents of the City of Kemah!
I have some very exciting news to share with you.
This morning, we received word that the Kemah Police Department has been approved for our first two grants from TXDOT as part of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP).
This program is split into two divisions:
Comprehensive, which is traffic enforcement of all motor vehicles for infractions such as lack of seat belts, excessive speed, disregarding traffic devices, etc.
Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), which entails the same duties as the other division, but it pertains only to commercial motor vehicles like 18-wheelers, buses, etc.
The breakdown of the award is as follows:
STEP (Comp): $15,409.43STEP
(CMV): $15,060.33Grand Total: $30,469.76
These grants will become effective on October 1, 2022.
As such, there will be increased traffic enforcement throughout the City of Kemah to ensure the safe operation of motor vehicles within our limits.
Additionally, a representative from TXDOT will soon schedule a training class for the Kemah Police Department and Finance Director to explain the duties and expectations for the implementation of these grants.
