Tithing & Giving
Many years ago, my home church, did a survey of the congregation. The survey included household income. The following week the pastor thanked the congregation for completing the survey then informed the church that it had been robbed that week. Gasps filled the sanctuary! He went on to explain that no one had actually taken money from the church but that based on the income portion of the survey the weekly tithes received was woefully short.
Generally, “tithing” refers to gifts given to the general fund of the church while “giving” refers to other gifts, like to a designated budget, need, etc. The two major funds we have at FBCTC are the General Budget, that tithes go to, and Finishing the Task, that designated giving goes to. As you budget and give – please consider both of these needs, your general budget tithe (typically 10% of your income) and your gifts above the tithe to Finishing the Task, etc.
Speaking of the General Budget, our budgeting process has begun. Our fiscal year runs April to March. Ministry leaders, committee chairs and ministers are working, evaluating and planning for next year’s budget. Once this part of the process is complete the proposed budget will be available Sunday, March 6th. That will be followed by a budget presentation/discussion Wednesday night, March 9th. The budget vote will be Sunday, March 27th.

*Worship guides, prayer letters and other documents are printed/provided

*Our church facility is properly maintained
*Our facility’s “mortgage” is paid
*Air conditioning, lighting and other utilities are supported
*Online services are provided - Vimeo, Facebook Live, Simple Church, Music services, Kids Church check-in and more
*Salaries are provided for ministers, administrative staff and hourly personnel
*We have coffee!
Tithing/giving to the church is tithing/giving to God. Even God said to test Him with it! See Malachi 3:6-12.
