First Baptist Church of Texas City
From Our Worship Ministry Associate, Jenny Skarke: This summer, the Worship Ministry is doing something exciting that we have never done before! We are hosting a three-day music camp for completed 1st-6th graders. This camp will not only teach the kids musical skills, but they will also learn leadership skills and even experience what it is like to be on a praise team! There will be a percussion class led by Tarryn Goldner, a voice class led by Marcy Talley, a choreography class led by myself, a guitar class (prior experience required) led by John Talley, and a Bible study time. During these rotations, they will work on preparing a worship service that they will lead for their families at the end of the camp. Psalm 145:4 says, “One generation shall praise Your works to another, and declare Your mighty acts.” Our purpose for creating this camp was to help the kids understand why they worship, help them discover their musical talents, and how to use those talents for God’s glory. I believe the time and energy we spend ministering to the younger generations is one of the most essential things we can do as Christians. They are eager to learn, and we can always learn something from them as well! If you haven’t registered your child, you can register at fbctc.com/events. To guarantee you receive a shirt, register by JUNE 14. General registration ends JUNE 22. We ask for your prayers as we continue to prepare for this new and exciting time in the Worship Ministry!
