FEBRUARY 1836, DAVID CROCKETT’S 100 DAYS JOURNEY FROM TENNESSEE TO THE SAN ANTONIO IN TEXAS WAS OVER2/21/2023 The Historic David Crockett Homepage Poster based in Denmark · 44) FEBRUARY 1836, DAVID CROCKETT’S 100 DAYS JOURNEY FROM TENNESSEE TO THE SAN ANTONIO IN TEXAS WAS OVER. On November 1, 1835, David Crockett left his home in Weakley County, Tennessee, to travel to Texas. Now 100 days later, on February 8, 1836, he reached San Antonio de Bexar and the Alamo. I have in more than forty posts uploaded here on Facebook from November 1, 2022, traced his journey from his home in Weakley to the town of Memphis in Tennessee, where a lot of young men waved him goodbye. I have followed his ride across Arkansas to Little Rock, where the newspapers reported about his arrival on November 12. Crockett and his party continued their ride southwest to Fort Towson in the Indian Territory. At Jonesboro they started a five weeks exploring of country just south of Red River. It brought them south to Clarksville and west to a site where Honey Grove now is located. Crockett found the garden spot of the world near Bois d’Arc Creek at the Red River, where he planned to settle with his family from Tennessee. A lot of people have told their story when meeting David Crockett in Texas. Becknell, Clark and Stout to mention a few of them. Crockett made a return route back to The Trammel Trace and on to Lost Prairie where he traded his gold watch. On January 5, 1836, Crockett had reached Nacogdoches. He also visited San Augustine. Oath of Allegiance was signed at judge John Forbes, before Crockett set out as a volunteer in the Texas army. After passing Washington-on-the-Brazos and Bastrop he arrived on February 8 to San Antonio de Bexar. 100 days had passed. Ken's Towing & Collision Center
