City Launches 2nd Year of Summer Internships & Expands Program to Include College-Level Positions
Dickinson, TX - The City of Dickinson is proud to announce the launch of its 2023 Summer Internship Program, aimed at inspiring the next generation of civic leaders in our community. This year, the program will offer ten internship positions, including two new positions for local college students, across multiple City departments.
The program is open to high school juniors, seniors, and local college students interested in pursuing a career in public service. The internship positions will cover Administration, Communications, Planning, Information Technology, Public Works, the Animal Shelter, Courts, and the Library.
"The City of Dickinson is excited to expand our internship program this year and provide these opportunities to our local students," said City Manager Theo Melancon. "We hope to instill civic pride in these young leaders and inspire them to consider a career in public service."
The internship program will run for ten weeks, starting in June. Interns will receive 40 hours of training each week under the guidance of experienced mentors. The City will pay all interns an hourly rate of $14.00.
Upon completion of the program, all interns in good standing will receive a portfolio of work completed during the internship and a recommendation letter to support their future career endeavors.
Interested students should submit a professional cover letter and resume to apply for the internship program. The positions posted online Monday, April 3rd and applications can now be submitted online via the City's website at www.dickinsontexas.gov under "Job Openings."
