Galveston Art league invites artists 16 and older to participate in a fall competition at
the league’s gallery in downtown Galveston. Artists may bring one, two or three entries to the Galveston Art League Gallery, 2117A Postoffice St. in Galveston, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29. Or if artists need to drop off their works early, they may make an appointment to do so on Sunday, Aug. 28, by emailing Joyce Buffalo, the Art League’s juried exhibitions show director, at [email protected]. Categories and Judge There are six categories in the Art League’s Fall 2022 Juried Show: Photography. Digital art (works originating in a computer or heavily modified by computer). Works on paper. Works on canvas or board. 3-D (sculpture, pottery, metalwork, wood carvings, etc.). Mixed media wall-hung. The judge will be Linda C Dumas of Kingwood. Dumas works and experiments in various media such as collage, painting and mixed media. She has won awards in several regional contests, including Lone Star Art Guild competitions. To see examples of her work, you may visit her website www.dumasarts.com. Prizes and Entry Fees Cash prizes are given for Best of Show ($300) and for first ($100) and second-place ($50) entries within the categories. All pieces that are accepted into the show will stay in the gallery throughout September. Artists can opt to set a price for their works or have them labeled as “Not For Sale.” Entry fees are $20 per entry unless the artist is a Galveston Art League member. The reduced fees for league members are $15 for each of the first two works that they enter and $5 for the third.
